The Barn House itself is so unique, special and different. It is beautifully laid out, the interiors are stunning and all the amenities where great too. Boasting a sauna, outdoor hot tub and panoramic countryside views, this homestay accommodations lies between the villages of Eyrarbakki and Selfoss. Our stay at this place was absolutely perfect and by far the best accommodation in the area! Johann the host made us feel like home from the first second on. The house is huge and built 10 years ago, so it's still very new and modern. The Jacuzzi is a must do highlight and he also owns some horses. 🙏 He helped us with his local experience to find the best route for our ongoing trip and gave us so many useful tips. The breakfast is decent! Different types of bread, fruits, veggies, cereals and ofc coffee as you like it and lots of tea. Unfortunately we just stayed for one night. We felt so welcomed...so if I ever come back to Iceland in sure I'll stop by again.
The hot tub was fantastic and I sat in there and watched the northern lights. The barn was a lovely and relaxing place to come back after being out exploring the amazing Icelandic countryside. We loved the binoculars so we could view the waves and the ship passing and the birdlime.
Lovely quiet little back water but only 15minutes to Selfoss in the car. Interesting walks along the beach with lots of wildlife & fauna & a quaint little church & graveyard. Everywhere is well signposted making it easy to get around. There is a museum, art gallery & kayaking centre along with 2 coffee shops & an excellent seafood restaurant. Something for everybody!
My husband (and I) would give Guesthouse Heba an 11 or more out of 10 for our stay on June 17, 2018. This was our last night of 16 spent in Iceland- we wanted something close enough to drive to Keflavik for our flight home the next day and something to give us a memorable experience. We found that at GH Heba- our balcony over-looked the Atlantic Ocean plus we could see nearby Hekla. Our hosts made us feel so welcome and at home-fixing us a tasty icelandic breakfast (available at a time for our choosing); sharing much of their family history with us; letting us visit with Odin. We highly recommend GuestHouse Heba for an excellent Icelandic experience...Nancy and Rich
Stokkseyri is a quiet town with a couple of restaurants, a museum and not much else to see and do. But it is has a beautiful black sand beach, charm, and is perfect a central location to see the sights of southern Iceland by car (all sights approx. 1-1.5 hour drive.)
Not much here. There is a coffee shop, gas station with a convenience store, and a super expensive but apparently amazing restaurant. Stock up on groceries in Selfoss and then come in, just a 10-15 minute drive. A great base for exploring. Take a walk along the beach and through the town, it is quiet and beautiful. 10/10 would come again.
I love small towns--the setting is very beautiful, and just a short drive to the airport, Reykjanes Peninsula, Golden Circle, hot pools and all the iconic southern Iceland sights--and close to a great restaurant in Selfoss. We saw northern lights all 3 nights--can't beat it for ocean views and clear nights! Although it was closed, the handcraft gallery in Stokkseyri looked amazing. Very interesting atelier of an organ-maker and repairer--must check it out! Just far enough off the beaten path to make you feel like a real traveler and not just a tourist!
Johanna was super responsive to our traveling adjuesments.
