It is a fantastic town - very small so can seem very busy but totally worth the stay - way more steps than I had expected but if I had thought about it it is a town built on a cliff side - wouldn’t recommend for elderly people who have difficulty walking. As one waiter summed it up: “In Positano we have no belly but our knees are broken”!
One of the beautiful places I have ever been, I couldn't recommend it enough! The views are amazing but also loved all the little streets leading down to the beach. Our favourite restaurant was Bruno, which surprisingly was one of the most reasonably priced but had the best views! The easiest way to get here is definitely taxi, we ended up getting a bus from Naples airport to Naples train station, followed by a train to Sorrento and then a bus to Positano! This took about 3 hours but only cost around 15 euros each. One thing I will say is that Positano is extremely expensive - probably the most expensive place I have ever visited in Europe! I was charged 5 euros for a bottle of diet coke and 25 euros per person to hire a sunbed on the beach.
We stayed down at the beach, which I consider was the best way to go. Positano is a bit more expensive than the other surrounding towns. We took out scooters to go to the neighboring towns which we consider it’s a must. Loved the experience, the views and the stay
A picture postcard-perfect sea port, ideal for excursions by boat to Capri and Amalfi. Must love stairs! If you collect sea glass, take a bag and plenty of time to explore the local beaches. The water is glorious for swimming. There was a choice of many excellent restaurants with superb ocean views, especially Pupetto--should have a Michelin star--and Saracen d'Oro--top service and menu. If you have good balance, are not afraid of heights, enjoy two to three-hour walks, and can scramble down rocky sections of mountain trails, the Path of the Gods is an ideal outing for spectacular views. One recommendation is to carefully plan transportation. Bus trips are challenging for travelers who are prone to motion sickness. Train, boat, and taxi travel may be better options.
Out of season visit. Weather unpredictable. Storms / rough seas meant our excursions to capri / Amalfi cancelled. Sea was cold but as expected, still a lovely visit but trickier to organise transport as many ferries don’t run out of season & reliable transfer back to flight in Naples can be upwards of€150 in a taxi. Buses not always reliable/ on time. Apparently very southern Italy so don’t rely on those for airport transfer
A place with fantastic views. Be ready for endless stairs, but it is good if you want to do some sport:) Positano is placed in the hill where the height difference between the sea level and your stay could be significant. But don't worry, there are a lot of rest places in between, bars, restaurants are all over the place. Food is excellent, staff friendly, so no problems at all. If you are more sporty type, you can do some nice trials around Positano (Nocelle, Il Sentiero Degli Dei - Path of the Gods). You can take a bus to Nocelle and start there, for more though ones, you can start from Positano but be ready for some 1700 steps! So, just enjoy it. The view is fantastic!
Positano
i would rate 100/10 if i could. the hotel is brilliant. it exceeded my expections. the staff are so helpful. we have the same view as le sirenuse in positano which is one of the best views of the city. the breakfast was brilliant with so many options. the location, the room, the cleanliness everything is exceptional. one of the best hotels in europe i have visited. special mention to the front desk staff who were so helpful and kind. thank you again and definitely coming back to stay here again
The location of the hotel and the view from our terrace was absolutely magical. The hotel is located high up and it truly offers better views than most other hotels in Positano. The room was very comfortable and spacious, the terrace was huge (with lounge chairs - we booked a Deluxe), and everything was impeccably cleaned (which gave us tremendous comfort during COVID). The on-site restaurant also has amazing views and a great wine selection.
Loved our stay at Hotel Il Gabbiano! The hotel has a nice bar on the main floor with a breathtaking view overlooking Positano. One of the highlights of our trip was enjoying an Aperol spritz at this bar each evening before heading out to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Another highlight was the delicious breakfast delivered to our room each morning. Great service, friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Highly recommend!
the setting is breath-taking. the hotel is very traditional with lots of character, the staff are superb and always happy to help with anything. there are amazing views from anywhere, the restaurants for all of breakfast, lunch and dinner are some of the best in positano. highly recommend dinner at Zass! if you didn't want to leave the hotel, you would not have to and still have a great time.
Everything was absolutely amazing! This hotel is top notch. The view from the room was stunning. It was walking distance to many great restaurants. The staff were as pleasant and helpful as you could ever hope to have. The breakfast they serve was probably one of the best in Positano. And the view from their outside tables could not be beat. I plan to come back.
All the staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. They did their best to make sure your requests were met and that your experience was an enjoyable one. There are 70+ steep steps into the Hotel but well worth the climb to enjoy the views. You can best enjoy the views over breakfast on the terrace overlooking Positano and the coast.

Best place to stay in Amalfie! Amazing view to all of Positano. The host was amazing: he waited out side of the villa until we arrived with traditional Italian dinner and a bottle of wine, and gave us the best recommendation ever. 5 stars to all!
The location was good. It wasn't to far from the beach and right next to stores and restaurants. Not too many stairs to get here unlike most of the hotels in Positano. The staff was friendly and always very helpful. The breakfast was amazing.
Positano
Really great location on the beach, we had a room on the top floor which had amazing views of Positano with a lovely terrace which was great for people wanting and catching some sun. It’s a small hotel and was lovely and quiet.
An elevator to a private beach. That’s all you need to know. Well, that and the fact that the staff is superb, the water taxi is super- handy, and the hotel restaurant- La Serra- was the best Michelin meal we had in Positano.
Positano
I stayed at a hotel in Amalfi, a hotel in Sorrento, two BnB’s in Positano. If I could do it over I’d spend the whole time at Casa María Grazia. It was TRUE Italy. The lodging, the views, the locals. It was amazing.
One of the best hotels ever, the view is magic, i suggest to choose a bedroom with a balcony to enjoy the view of Positano. Breakfast is perfect and the staff really kind
