Run by the same family since 1854, Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour is one of the oldest hotels in Turin. Surrounded by lush gardens, it is across from to Porta Nuova Train Station.
All good. We had arrived in the wrong city by mistake which was distressing, but this hotel made up for the distress that we felt! The room was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent which we had very early so that we could resume our travels. The reception employees were charming and helpful. Evening drinks are served on the the hotel patio (with snacks), which was also enjoyed after an very long day of travelling. We also enjoyed a delightful Sunday evening meal at a little restaurant right next door to the hotel. As we were travelling by train, the amazing location right next to the station was sincerely appreciated (just across the road).

Italy’s first capital, sophisticated Turin has many elegant buildings and porticoed streets. Large Piazza Castello is the focal point and centres on Palazzo Madama, an unusual structure with a Renaissance façade and medieval body.
The next door Royal Palace backs onto Turin Cathedral, home to the Turin Shroud, the cloth with an imprint of Christ only rarely on display. Its museum is just one of the many fantastic Turin museums. None is better than the Egyptian Museum, the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts outside Cairo. Also noteworthy is the Mole Antonelliana, housing displays on Italian cinema and supposedly the world’s tallest museum.
By the Po, Italy’s longest river, is the Parco del Valentino, a tranquil park that is home to the Borgo Medievale, an artificial, medieval-style settlement with a castle.
However, within Italy, Turin is best known for sport and cars. FIAT is based here and nostalgia lovers can visit the rooftop track on top of their old Lingotto factory, now a conference center. The city’s 2 Serie A football clubs - Torino and Juventus - also have electric atmospheres at their games.
Watch out for amazing views of the Alps as you fly into Turin Airport. Public transport then quickly links you to your Booking.com hotel, B&B or hostel.
Turin is a great city with a lot of options, especially touring Piedmont area with ease. Outside dining is pleasant in the city. It is easy to get in and out of Turin. The city is expecially clean and pleasant to walk around. People are nice and friendly. we were passing through but definitely consider it on next trip to Italy. The fast train to Turin from Paris was our plan; but there was a landslide so that went out the window and we had to do a last minute flight -- very expensive for 1.5 hour flight. Airport was very pleasand taxi to town was great in E-class. Fares were posted at the airport. Loved that as there was no attempt like Paris to take advantage of traveler.
Beautiful place to visit. Plenty to see, lovely selection of bars and restaurants. Loved the electric scooters around the city for ease of getting around. People really friendly. Speak great English. Train to Milan was an hour away and public transport is fairly cheap. Valentino park is beautiful and worth a visit. I would definitely recommend visiting Turin and I will return!
All great - Cinema Muzeum, formal Ford Factory, Automobil Muzeum, Fotography Muzeu, free walking tour, Italian food - all amazing https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvzkwqsIZiK/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
It's a lovely and elegant northern Italian city, a lot more laid-back than Milano. With the mountains in the distance in almost every direction, it felt really romantic and nice! The architecture is gorgeous, but it's not shouting "look at me!" so it feels really natural in that context. I stayed right downtown for five nights, so I took the opportunity to really walk a lot in that area, and it was quite lovely.
So much to see, besides the obvious traditional sites (Egyptian Museum, Mole Antonelliana, Duomo, Castello, Palazzo Madama, Parco del Valentino). Don't miss the MAO, Museum of Oriental Art, and the Museo dell'Automobile. It's a very special city, its architecture reflects its past as the Capital of the newly united Italy for a short time (1861 - 1865) under the Savoy family. Very French in lots of ways. Unique "portici", covered walkways with excellent shops, for a total of 18 km! Public transport very good.
We loved Turin. The guide books suggested there was enough to do for a 2-3 day break, but we were there for four and didn't run out of things to see. Favourites included the walking tour, the Motor museum near Lingotto, the Palazzo Madama, the ride up to Superga, and Archivio Tipografica (not open to the general public - have to book in advance; but excellent if you are interested in printing) Definitely worth buying the Piemonte pass (we bought the 3-day one) covering museums and public transport - the buses trams and metro make getting around convenient, though it was sometimes challenging working out which routes served which places. There were lots of places to eat cheaply, though we had hoped to find food of the high quality we associated with Italy, but didn't manage to do so.
