Dana Tower Hotel

Dana Tower Hotel

Dana (Near Al Jāyah)

Offering a restaurant, Dana Tower Hotel is located in Ḑānā. Free WiFi access is available in public areas. Extras include a safety deposit box and a fan. A stunning hiking experience with their guide (Selim), a terrace with a wonderful landscape and a breathtaking sunset, not to mention the fact that I found adorable staffs in a cozy place with yummy food. I booked only one night as a tourist, but I liked so much the place and the hostel that I ended up staying for one whole week as a volunteer after asking Nabil's permission, the owner. Most of the nights Hazem and Selam played and singing while me and the other guests were dancing their traditional bedoin music. It was a warm and cool environment :) About the transportation, I came from Amman by bus (to Tafilah) and after a minibus that dropped me in the nearest main road of the hostel (na rodovia mais perto do hotel). While walking on the road towards the hostel, I got a ride from Hamzi and he drove till the hostel. Although I was lucky to have met him, I would suggest to write them one day before and arrange with them to pick you up in case you dont have a car. In general, everything was nice and I had a great time!

Wadi Dana Eco-Camp

Wadi Dana Eco-Camp

Dana (Near Al Jāyah)

Just 0.6 mi from the Ottoman village of Dana and the start of the Wadi Dana Trail, the camp overlooks Wadi Dana and the Dana Nature Reserve. The food was utterly delicious! Wadi Dana should have an award for such wonderful home cooking. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxing - it was a relief to have our two days away from the usual tourism mayhem of taxi drivers, guides and trinket sellers all pitching for extra Dinars. It was so peaceful and I look forward to another visit.

Rummana Campsite

Rummana Campsite

Dana (Near Al Jāyah)

Located in Dana, Rummana Campsite features accommodations 21 miles from Shobak Castle. A buffet breakfast is served every morning at the property. This is literally a campsite. You park a few kilometers away, check in at the park office and either take the shuttle truck or hike down to the campsite. We stayed in one of the standard tents, which was super-spacious for 2 people—it had three beds in it. For the beginning of May, the weather was wonderful. We only used one blanket each (they provide you with 3 and would give you more if needed). Lunch and dinner is at a roofed structure, centrally located to the tents and shared bathrooms. Our lunch was of the very tasty Jordanian standard—tomato salad, hummus, babaghanoush, good olives and a chewy flatbread. Dinner was a variation on that with some additional items (muqqlabeh, a roasted chicken dish), so was perfectly fine. Do bring your mosquito repellant for dinner! The whole place was very clean, the staff welcoming (hey! you are in Jordan, everyone there seems almost too nice), and the trails start pretty much at your tent door. Very pleased with Rummana Campground, we wished we'd stayed more than one night.
