We really had a great stay at the Sandra Hotel. It is well located near the Roman Theater (10min walking) and inside the Bazard. We were recommended to explore the neighbourhood but not after 11pm. The hotel is next to a market so a tiny bit noisy but otherwise great!

We were there for 4 days and it really felt like a home. Mohammad and Hayat were soooo pleasant. They were always smiling and very respectful. She used to make us a very delicious omelette and the labne was delicious. The hotel was a little empty due to the situation in the region, but I highly recommend it. The lobby and rooms are very tidy and clean. It's very walkable to Paris square and many other places. I hope to come back in the future for sure. Thanks a lot for everything to the whole team.

FAQs about hotels in Amman

Forward-Thinking Royal Capital

The rapidly expanding Jordanian capital, Amman is an economic powerhouse spread over various hills. Atop one sits the Citadel, containing remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules, a Byzantine church and an 8th-century mosque and palace.

Also here is the Jordan Archaeological Museum, and at the foot of the hill is a Roman theatre, part built in the rock. Modern housing blocks surround it, but the most avant-garde architecture is in the developing Al Abdali business district.

The tallest Amman structures will be the Jordan Gate Towers and will house one of the city’s high-rise hotels. International brands of restaurants and bar can be found alongside more traditional cuisine in Amman, and many eateries are in the large Mecca Mall and Grand City Mall, which also has a cinema.

Nearby is the desert-like vegetation of Al Hussein National Park, and the Royal Automobile Museum which features cars of King Hussein, ruler for over 40 years and after whom are named city sights such as the King Hussein Business Park and mosque. The King Abdullah I Mosque has a beautiful blue dome, while Abu Darweesh Mosque at Amman’s highest point is a striking black-and-white structure.

Booking.com’s Amman accommodation includes 5-star hotels, apartments in the embassy district, and cheap hostels, all within easy reach of Queen Alia Airport.

We really enjoyed visiting the Amman Citadel, exploring the city and spending time at the family-friendly attractions. The city has a great mix of history, culture and modern places to enjoy. We enjoyed trying different local restaurants and experiencing some of the delicious Jordanian food. There are plenty of good options for families and different tastes. Having a car or using taxis is convenient, especially when travelling with children, and the main attractions are straightforward to reach. There are plenty of activities for families, including visiting the Amman Citadel, exploring shopping malls, enjoying parks and family entertainment venues, and trying local restaurants. The city offers a good balance of sightseeing and activities that children can enjoy. Amman was a wonderful destination for our family. We enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, interesting historical sites and variety of activities, and we would happily visit again. We had a wonderful day tour experience in Amman.

We had a wonderful day tour experience in Amman. The friendly locals and the nice, breezy weather made the trip truly enjoyable and memorable from start to finish. Our guide and itinerary hit all the historic highlights. We visited the stunning Amman Citadel featuring the majestic Temple of Hercules, the fascinating Umayyad Palace, and the rich exhibits of the Archaeological Museum followed by the impressive, well-preserved Roman Theatre in the heart of the city.Everything was smooth, educational, and deeply atmospheric. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience the heart and history of Jordan!

The city left me with mixed feelings.

The city left me with mixed feelings. It’s great to wander around, especially early in the morning, exploring the staircases and looking for street art. I used this map: [https://streetartcities.com/cities/amman]. The hills offer incredible views of the "white city" and walking through the downtown area to feel the rhythm of the Arab world was a cool experience. After seeing Petra, Jerash, Wadi Rum, Ajloun, Kerak, and Gadara, the Citadel and the Roman Theater in Amman weren't quite as impressive, although they are definitely worth visiting. Also, eating at Hashem Restaurant was insanely delicious and cheap! However, there is a lot of dirt and trash everywhere. Right in front of me, someone tossed a bag of garbage onto the street from an upper floor of a well-kept building. I also saw people throwing stones at cats multiple times. Everyday things like this really ruined the impression of the city for me.

Honestly, Amman completely blew me away—this was easily the best trip of my life! I got the absolute best of everything: the incredible energy of a traditional wedding and henna night, super-relaxing vibes floating in the Dead Sea, and nonstop fun exploring the city. Between sipping coffee at cute local spots, eating way too much delicious food, hanging out downtown, shopping at Abdali Mall, and having Ubers ready whenever I needed them, the whole vibe was just unmatched. I’m seriously going to be dreaming about Jordan for a long time!

Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to explore all of Amman. What I saw, however, left a very positive impression. The city combines modern and traditional elements in a fascinating way. I was particularly impressed by City Mall, which reflects the modern side of Jordan. One place I would recommend visiting is the King Abdullah I Mosque, one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. My driver told me that on special occasions even King Abdullah II has delivered sermons there. Getting around by taxi is easy and remarkably affordable. Not every driver speaks fluent English, but I never encountered any serious communication problems. Sometimes a jordanian bypasser steps in and supports! For me, Amman was much more than just a gateway to Petra or Wadi Rum, and I would gladly spend more time there on a future visit.
