Soufriere is a must for anyone who visits St Lucia; there are the Pitons, the sulphur springs, Diamond baths and waterfalls and the botanical gardens and more. The locals are kind, polite, you are never hassled. The food is good and lots of good walks, transport is good. A good place to chill, walk or take a boat ride to the left Anse Chastanet or to the right to Sugar Beach.
It was exactly what we were looking for So much to see and experience: - Sulfur spring Mud Bath - $10US - Jerusalem Mineral Baths (recommended) $4US - Botanical Gardens - $6US - Tet Paul hike (approx. 1 hr) -$10US - Anse Mamin (our favourite beach) - Chastanet Beach - Hummingbird Beach - local beach - Sugar beach (our least favorite, busy with tours, snorkeling) - Roots restaurant in center of Soufrier - Fedo's restaurant - great local food
We hiked the Gros piton trail- strenuous but rewarding although they wouldn’t let us see the second viewpoint at the peak of petit piton which was disappointing. We also liked the diamond falls botanical garden- small but beautiful. Fun town with some good restaurants- we ate at the hummingbird restaurant which was excellent.
This is a small village and we felt really safe walking through the streets. We provisioned from the local grocery store for additional items on our boat. The bakery serves up fresh bread in the am but get their early! The locals were so nice and friendly. I would recommend eating at one of the local restaurants for bbq! We visited the mud baths early to avoid the crowds and our guide, Kevin was awesome! This is not the USA so just enjoy and soak up the local culture.
Good smaller town with enough amenities for a multi-day stay. Great beaches like Anse Mamin, restaurants like The Mango Tree, and activities like the Tet Paul Trail, Mud Bath at Sulphur Springs, and others.
We enjoyed visiting Anse Chastenet beach for snorkeling and scuba diving with Scuba St Lucia. It's a 15 min drive on a semi-unpaved and hilly road, narrow at times, but doable in a small low clearance vehicle. You can also take a 5 minute water taxi from Soufriere beach. From Anse Chastanet, it's a short walk to Anse Mamin beach. It's also worth a visit to Sugar Beach resort, nestled in between the two Pitons. With a small fee, you can park at a private lot just before the entrance to the resort, and walk down the hilly road to the resort. If you spend something on drinks or food at the resort, you can get a ride back up the hill from the resort's shuttle service. Do the Drive in Volcano and sulphur springs, and any other attraction for that matter, either earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the crowds. We really enjoyed a gourmet dinner at Boucan restaurant at the Hotel Chocolat, with chocolate inspired dishes. For great local food at very reasonable prices lunch at Fedo's in Soufriere is also a good bet.
