Meknes was amazing, the food was amazing, the people was helpful to get around to anywhere we wanted to go and very welcoming. I would love to return to meknes again for a week or even 2 weeks next time I go.
A really great city — even though some of the main things we'd come to see, including the tomb of Moulay Ismail, were closed. This is kind of a bit like a more down to earth version of Fes — the old city here does have a tourist trade, but even along the parts of it that are the most heavily trafficked, it doesn't feel consumed by tourism, and there's never an issue of worrying that stopping for a moment to check your phone might attract tourist touts. People are generally chill and the city is often quite aesthetically striking. There's a great old-school bazaar for all sorts of ordinary things moroccans would want to buy (everything from underwear to inscriptions from the Qur'an) that stretches out from al-Hdim - and an absolutely *incredible* pastry shop called al-akhawayn nestled somewhere nearby. There's a nice restaurant on the corner of Al-Hdim and the main street that has a great terrace with a view of the whole area, and if you've had enough moroccan food for a bit, the "tacos" over at "O'Foody" right on the square are definitely not actual tacos, but they are quite tasty.
I really love this place. Its big enough that there's places to go and things to see but its not huge like Rabat, Marrakesh, or Casablanca, i find those overwhelming sometimes. You HAVE to travel to Moulay Idris, its about 30 mins drive outside of Meknes and its an old city and next to it are ROMAN RUINS left from that time period. They are well kept and amazing, you can really let you imagination run wild at the history that happened there. They even have a discovery center before you go to the ruins that have other artifacts that have been found there and its just so crazy to look at how they lived back then and the pieces that are around to tell their stories today. Also have to make a trip the they old medina and do some shopping around in there, they can tell if you're not moroccan so don't let them charge you a higher price on their stuff lol.
I highly recommend Meknes! Meknes maintains a very authentic and ancient feel without the crowds, prices, and 'guides' of Fes! You don't have to spend much time here, but it's worth it. You can easily walk from the Meknes El Amir train station to the medina, and walk around and see the old gates. If you have time, Volubilis is a MUST! The mosaics are gorgeous, and it's easy to take bus 15 from the city to Moulay Idriss. It only costs 7 Dirhams one way.
The taxi don’t have meatier so it’s hard to keep haggling you could have seen a lot if the haggling for the taxis were not a part of the time. But honestly it is a beautiful place to see the walls of the city the colours of the tiles on the walls of the streets even brighten up yr day. There is a lot to see like the Roman ruins. Mowla idris town not to far. For a day trip
As other reviews suggested, Meknes was the unexpected gem of our trip through the north of Morocco (on our third trip to the country). Compact, interesting in its sights (the granaries & stables were fascinating, located next to the later "lake"), and very relaxed to wander in. The main square was low key compared to Marrakesh but still quite fun. The medina was so easy to meander through: un-hassly, & easier to meet & greet people running stalls or making things. It was very easy to fix a taxi to go to Volublis & Moulay Idris, & this was a very good day out. Some good restaurants in Meknes but if you want to drink wine or beer you need to first check whether these are served.
Great, great, beautiful and clean hotel, everything is excellent, the management staff, the room, the bathroom is excellent, close to the train station, close to the city center, restaurants and shopping malls, close to McDonald's. The brother in the management was excellent and nice to me. The bathroom is excellent and clean. The night for the night is appropriate. The price is appropriate. I advise every tourist to book in this wonderful beautiful hotel. Next time I will book this hotel.

The inside of the Riad was truly beautiful. Our room (the family suite) was spectacular - One Thousand and One Nights level decoration, and very comfortable. The layered terrace was incredibly beautiful, with lots of plants, and safe for children to roam around in. Breakfast was the best we had in Morocco. The riad has games (eg puzzles) for children which helped the transition times while everyone was getting ready to go out or rest time for parents.

I have stayed in hundfreds of hotels in many countries in alll corners of the world but this medieval riad in the middle of the beautiful medieval medina of Meknès is magic and one of the most special Places I have ever stayed. Fantastic rooftop terrace where we had our dinners and extremely helpful and friendly people working in the riad. Thank you so much for this experience!
I arrived to Dar Marzouga during the COVID-19 lockdown in Morocco. I booked a bed in a shared room, but moments after I arrived, the host offered me a private room with no extra charge. That was absolutely nice of him since the difference was remarkable. It was so much comfortable. They also made me breakfast the next morning even though I overslept. Excellent service!

Location, staff (especially Youssef) who’s gone out of his way to make us feel welcomed, took care of our car/parking situation and served us a supper delicious breakfast. We would recommend this riad to anyone visiting Meknès. The location is outstanding and the walls are so thick that they are so soundproofed.
Meknès
very central place, with really nice people and all the amenities. they also book for you to visit and travel around Meknes (to go to Volubilis) rooms are really nice with a lot of personality, and the terrace on the rooftop is awesome. breakfast is really really good, with Berber specialties

good choice for a budget hotel. Large, pleasant room, quiet. The man who does everything around the hotel was super nice and helpful. Great location just inside the medina, and near to the Bab Mansour and the main road. (Look for the murals). Great coffee and breakfast. Close to restaurants.

This riad was probably the most cozy we've been in Morocco. Meknes is a very nice city and the location near the door of the medina was excelent. The owner was absolutely kind and friendly and her wife is probably best cook in Maroc! You souldn't miss her couscous!

I enjoyed the breakfast at every morning. The location was great you can walk to where you need to go, got a taxi a few times and once with the help of the hotel staff to go to a different city. My room was spacious and the air conditioner kept the whole room cold.

Very friendly and helpful owners who made me feel at home and gave me plenty of travel advice for Meknes and Volubilis. Terrace is wonderful with plenty of comfortable sofas for a nap while listening to the chirp of the birds. Good location.
The hotel is close to centre and the staff was exceptional. Big shoutout goes to Ms Fadwa , who was very helpful and took no time in changing my room on my request for the reason of my comfort. I am happy with the overall experience.
The new part of the hotel is very nice and clean. The food is good. I would like to thank Aziz who was very helpful and the other lady sorry I forgot her name but generally most of the staff are very nice and helpful.
