Dhangethi is a beautiful island. Rooms were clean and modern. Showers hot and AC cold 👍🏼 Breakfast was very filling and Areef was willing to adapt it to your preferences. The excursions were great! A lovely intimate small guest house that is able to give you a bespoke experience.
Located on the southern tip of the Ari Atoll is Maafushivaru Maldives, which is surrounded by clear waters with a house reef, powder-white soft sand and lush vegetation. Extremely professional, diverse and friendly staff , great quality of villas , food, snorkeling options (especially Mantas) including presentation and learning from marine biologist on site, safety against Covid, sustainability of the island, privacy, spa treatments
Located in Dhangethi, Dhangethi INN has a shared lounge, garden, private beach area, and free WiFi throughout the property. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Tholal, his family and colleagues were incredibly kind, patient and so fun! We were two families (7 in total) with children as young as 5 years old and every day he arranged all the excursions we wanted and made a wonderful effort to ensure we enjoyed ourselves, including watching our children and giving them special attention and helping them spot all the special creatures of the sea, whale sharks, turtles, manta rays, dolphins, flying fish, eagle rays, squid, sharks, eel, octopus, lobsters, you name it - we saw it! Tholal and his crew take the best care of their guests - they always dropped us at optimal spots so we wouldn’t have to spend too much energy swimming to find what we wanted to see. The first time we saw a whale shark, they dropped us at the front of a pack of snorkelers so we wouldn’t be lost in the trail of kicking fins. He also personally took our 7 yr old daughter by the hand and swam with her to make sure she saw everything. We were also very lucky that Tholal and Areef (boat captain) spotted more whale sharks, manta rays and turtles and we had a few very incredible private experiences with these magnificent creatures. They did not rush us and let us stay as long as we wanted. Tholal is also an amazing free diver and takes incredible videos of you and your family with his Go Pro camera and shares them with you, free of charge! If you want to see whale sharks, this part of the Maldives is a must! One night, we went night fishing with a local fisherman (Ayu!) and enjoyed dried tuna and coconut while we fished! The next day, Tholal’s wife prepared us a meal with our catch (we let the shark and giant sting ray we caught go, of course!) Tholal even treated us to a couple excursions and a meal! He has been one of the sweetest hosts/guides we have ever encountered, and both our families have traveled a lot! Our children trusted and enjoyed being with Tholal and we cannot thank him enough for our wonderful trip. We would love to visit again!
Featuring free WiFi, a restaurant and a sun terrace, Banyan Villa Maldives Dhangethi offers accommodations in Dhangethi. Guests can enjoy the on-site snack bar. Our stay in Banyan Villa was perfect! Everything was very well organized. Once we arrived to Male, there was a man from Banyan Villa waiting for us to help us to get to a speedboat. Accomodation was also really nice. We got a free room upgrade with garden view and it was amazing. You could easily access to the garden directly from your room. The rooms were well equipped and clean. Food was really delicious and healthy. It was wonderful adventure for us especially to swim with whalesharks, turtles and mantas! Big thanks to all staff from Banyan that made our stay in Dhangeti unforgettable!

A nice local island on South Ari Atoll. Prime location for diving as it has many dive sites for Mantas, Whalesharks and lots of sharks. Not far from prime dive sites. Resorts may not be as nice as private resort islands but you can visit Maldives 3-4 times for the same price! It is also good to support local communities when you stay at local island. There are restaurants, minimarts and shops around the island so food and stuffs are not a problem. Diving from local island is also much cheaper than resort islands (and it is the same dive sites!). The island is small so you can walk around. There is a bikini beach with crystal clear water. We visited during Ramadan so food service is sometimes slow so just order food in advance if you are in a hurry.
It's a nice quiet local island but there is a lot of building going on and once those additional guest houses and hotels are finished and in high season when families come, it will get crowded I think. So better go now. There is an ATM now for Maldivia Rufiyah. The 4 local restaurants are all in a row along the beach and have good prices, cheaper than the guest houses. The Blue Moon cafe was the best. You can get a 5l water bottle for $2. The small 500ml bottles cost $1 each. The water on the island is salty and is fine for showering but obv. not for drinking. You have to wear a longer skirt/shorts and cover shoulders except on the bikini beach. Diving and snorkeling is fantastic. People are very friendly and considerate and not pushy at all like in other tourist destinations. It is a bit annoying that the live aboard tourists sometimes have their dinner on the bikini beach Tues-Thurs. So local men start putting tables and chairs up from about 4pm.
Everyone gets tired of the Continental breakfast so try the Maldivian with Misuni and Roshi - delish! The bikini beach is great for swimming and snorkeling but you can see fish just snorkeling off the local pier (opposite side of the island than the harbour).
Not very crowded island, with all you can need: lots of activities, very near from incredible diving spots, warm and smiling local people, white sand bikini beach, nice snorkelling, and three really good and affordable restaurants (at this moment they are building a fourth restaurant). There is a fastboat every day to and from Malé. Taking about 1:30h per trip. There are also day trips to Dhigurah by ferry. Blue Moon restaurant has some glorious sunset tables and the best Kotthu of the island. Hawaee restaurant is in the opposite side of the island, and has a cozy rooftop terrace and garden. There are two dive centres in the island. We went with Island Scuba Divers: they have a long range diving boat with sundeck and a fast boat for manta or whale shark chasing. Owner has a long experience in the area and will take you to some of the best liveaboard-like spots. If you prefer snorkelling, ask them to tell you where the coral aquarium is, near the jetty, which is an incredible area full of life. If the day is too hot, try walking to the end of the jetty and the wind and views will cool you down.
Excellent location for diving and snorkeling especially for those who want to meet Wheal Shark and Manta rays. One of the best areas in South Male, especially in the Summer with less rain compared to the north. temperature, is always between 27 to 30 Deg during the day and 25 to 27 during the night.
Stay was really worth for the money, friendly locals, clean beaches, crystal clear water, hundreds of marine species, a super friendly, clean, beautiful guest houses (Arianna dhangethi where I stayed)
The owner Tholar is extremely helpful. He took us on a reasonably priced snorkelling trip and afterwards let us borrow flippers for no charge. The hotel is in the middle of town but it's a small island and the walk to the beach isn't far. The town itself is small but very sweet. At the hotel there's a common area on the second floor and a small kitchen where you can help yourself to coffee or tea or even prepare your own meals (however, we ate every night at Hawaee which was great - try their valhomas kottu roshi).
First I have to say, Thank you to Areef and family. I traveled alone and they treated me absolutely wonderful! Sky View is a little Boutique Guesthouse, with a lovely little garden area and a swing. The room was perfect and clean. Sky view is in the perfect area for a “quiet and comfy” vacation. Dhangethi is great island to be. Furthermore the food is local and very delicious. Areef the host can help you with anything. Excursions, diving and everything. I definitely recommend.
All the staff are very friendly, they helped us to book the speedboat. They organized some tours like fishing in the afternoon, whale shark and manta trip. It was really amazing! We did a bbq on the beach with them , spending a good time! We recommend them 100%. They have also watersports , so it is so easy to do many things in Dhangethi!
the view and the room is clean they have an apple TV in the room their WIFI is good they have a pcr service and a very good doctor on the island the staff is very good but the administration of the hotel did not meet our expectations
Food was great. Loved the pool and the privacy hotel provides. Staff was very helpful. Went on a turtle snorkel. They know exactly where to find turtles. Beautiful and clear had long swim with turtle.
I loved the people of dhangethi , especially the hosts (I would prefer friends ) Shaameen , Hussain and shaameens friends bore who made me and my partners stay the best days of our life
Everything. Staff was awesome. Keep in mind Maldives one island 1 hotel. No 71 or convenience stores so pack smart. Alcohol is available at very reasonable prices.
