Hotel in Longyearbyen
Radisson Blu Polar Hotel is the northernmost full-service hotel in the world, located in Longyearbyen. Temperature of our room. There was very warm, even if outside was about -30 degrees of Celsius. Also, location. Just behind the road was a main street (downtown area). Friendly stuff and absolutely stunning breakfasts - fresh ingredients, smoothies, absolutely delicious salmon, fishes, bread... everything was amazing! Internet was fast, no limit.

Located in Longyearbyen, a 9-minute walk from Svalbard Church, Svalbard Hotell | The Vault provides accommodations with a bar, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Comfortable, spacious room. Exceptionally good bed. Breakfast offerings were just right, not over the top. I will single out the croissants as outstanding. Having a restaurant (mostly sushi) on site is very helpful in Svalbard's freezing temperatures. I also stayed at the Radisson and prefer the Vault by a wide margin

Located in Longyearbyen, within 0.8 mi of Svalbard Church, Haugen Pensjonat Svalbard offers accommodations with free WiFi. Built in 1985, the property is within 1.3 mi of Svalbard Museum. Awesome place to stay with a warm and caring host. Super clean showers shared between rooms as well as a great kitchen set-up to help bring down the costs of staying in Svalbard, a normally very pricy place to eat out every meal at restaurants. Close to the airport bus stop. The host was super flexible with check-out time as well as providing fresh baking each day for the guests. Can't say enough about this place, and would choose to stay here again over any of the other hotels in the area.

It is catered to tourists in this northern most inhabited city. People were friendly and helpful. There are a lot of activities to do: dog sledding, snow mobile etc. The quality of shops selling arctic gear is top notch
Quaint little town with beautiful natural surroundings. Visible Northern Lights (if it's not cloudy, but it's not cloudy 24/7) and lots of REAL snow. I went here to get away from the bustling city life, and because of the polar winter, it really felt like I had reached the end of the world. 100% recommend if you want a chill, but exciting get-away. Reindeer burgers and pizza are also absolutely delicious! Still have to try some of the other local dishes, but so far, it looks promising!
to me it is a magical place, I have dreamt to go for several years, so finally i did. Beautiful breathtaking. I can never forget the moment when I landed i saw Longyearbyren from the plane, another world. The already behind us, we were entering the polar night. I had shivers. Just loved it.
Longyearbyen was for me the start and return of an expedition. The place is neat though but has limited possibilities for walks in the direct surroundings. To see a bit more excursions are available. For a better and more complete arctic experience a tour with a ship is probably the best option and seeing Longyearbyen then as part of the trip rather than final destination. Shopping facilities (all levels) have improved over the last few years and coffee in Fruen is good!
We just had a few days in late winter. We had a nice sledge tour and a snow mobile tour on a very cold day. One or two more days would have been nicer, or maybe later in the year to be able to go by boat to Pyramiden or Barentsburg. In the end we had a great experience and we want to come back for another trip!
Longyearbyen is very specific place. Very expensive with all outdoor activities but it's worth for to survive it at least once per life. Dog sleeding, norhen lights, wildlife and exploring the city. People are so friendly - always say "hi" to you, even if they are strangers. Bars are open 24/7! Life is going slow and with smile on the faces, even if the weather is so low - everything is working well, without any problems. Just go and feel it. You will be charmed, how beautiful world is!
Longyearbyen
If you don’t mind walking to the city center then this is perfect budget places offering scenic views, better than more expensive hotels in town, and if you are lucky you will be able to see northern lights (also better than in the city center). Good breakfast. Distance between city center and Gjestehuset is not that important, cause every tour operator picks up from this guests house, also bus to the airport starts from there. Gjestehuset offers everything you need, breakfast, comfortable bed, access to the kitchen.
Considering the remoteness of the location, we were pleasantly surprised by how good the hotel and its facilities were. The rooms are fairly simple, but well appointed, comfy beds, great block out blinds for the 24hr sun and one of the best showers we had had all trip. We loved the shoes off policy and the fact that we were supplied with slippers to wear around the hotel. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast in the hotel and the food quality was just great. Dinner in particular was amazing, we highly recommend it.

Great place to stay! We would always prefer these Appartements over a regular hotel room. Located in the heart of Longyearbyen, cosy and well equipped. There is a big table in the living room perfect for groups to eat and chat. We will be back!
