Absolutely amazing stay AAA+++ Exceeded my expectations. I wanted to stay close to Kathmandu but also get out of the dusty & busy city! And it was perfect. Far enough away but not too much travel time. As soon as you arrive, you are warmly welcomed like family 💗 I wanted some R&R from travelling and peace and a place to heal - this was perfect. The service and the food and the accommodation was all OUTSTANDING! I was a little sick during my stay and they cared so well for me, amazing!! Such an interesting place with many giving projects that serve the community and beyond. My cabin had majestic views of the valley and even the Himalayas and Everest!! The sunrises were spectacular. The beds are super comfy and my cabin was very spacious and cute and private. It's really great value for money. The owners and ALL of the staff are so lovely and interesting to talk to. Highly recommend a stay here - it's worth the trip from Kathmandu.

Friendly staff. Location is gorgeous, beautiful view. Room big, comfortable bed (for me, I like hard mattress), quiet, clean, towel, soap, drinking water provided.

Great place, welcoming and well positionned

My Girlfriend and I stayed in this homestay for two weeks during an internship we did in Kirtipur. If you plan to stay in the region of Kathmandu, I can recommend Kirtipur because compared to the center of Kathmandu it isn't too noisy and still you can go to Kathmandu by a cab very easy and cheap. The hostfamily around Aashish is unbelievable friendly. They help you with everything you could think of. On first sight there may be cheaper options to sleep over in Nepal. If you consider that the prize includes not only breakfast but also lunch and dinner you won't find anything comparable here. Also the food is sooo good and always freshly cooked. In addition the homestay got a waterfilter, so you can fill up your waterbottles during the stay whenever you want. This homestay made our two weeks stay in Kirtipur very comfortable. We felt like we would be part of the family for years during our stay. I can highly recommend this place!

This is truly one of the most welcoming places I've ever experienced. The property owners are incredibly kind, and I felt like I was part of a family during my stay. Nestled on a hilltop, the location offers breathtaking views of the entire city, both by day and night. Although I have been living in India permanently for the last 14 years, I travel abroad every year for visa renewals. During my visits, I have stayed in various places around the world, but Suraj's Penance Homestay in Nepal stood out as the warmest and most hospitable place I have known, truly surpassing even a five-star hotel. They constantly checked in on me without me needing to ask, always thinking about every small detail that could make my stay more comfortable. I spent two wonderful weeks there, and each day felt special—with care that felt just like being with family. The food was delightful—organic and freshly grown right in their garden, including vegetables, fruits, and nuts. It was prepared to suit my tastes three times a day, and I genuinely enjoyed every meal. The location offers spectacular views, and I honestly felt that two weeks wasn't enough to fully enjoy this beautiful place and the heartfelt hospitality of Suraj and Nishah. Both are remarkably intelligent, with backgrounds as teachers, and they run Penance Homestay—a peaceful retreat perfect for meditation and yoga enthusiasts. Their lovely children add warmth to this wonderful sanctuary. My room was fantastic, offering stunning views through a large panoramic window—truly a little slice of paradise. The air is incredibly fresh, coming straight from the Himalayas. Housekeeping was prompt every few days, and the place is well equipped with a modern kitchen, laundry services, a cosy cafe, and a lovely family atmosphere. It's a perfect spot to visit, unwind, and refresh your mind any time of year. You can even see Everest and other Himalayan peaks from there.
