Rancho Juancho is 4.3 mi away before reaching Portobelo. Sited on a short and steep hill, it offers the perfect height for the enjoyment of the best view of the Caribbean. Excellent place with very dedicated owners. Beautiful views, calm place. The owners treat everybody as part of the family, so there was opportunity to practise Spanish and learn more life stories...
Offering a restaurant, Scubaportobelo is located in Portobelo. With free WiFi throughout public areas, this property features on-site activities like scuba diving, boat tours and kayaking. Absolutely loved the view from our room & bed! The views were amazing!
PANAMA HOTEL PUERTO LINDO is located in Puerto Lindo and offers a bar and a terrace. This beachfront property offers access to free WiFi and free private parking. Location, excellent staff, privacy was great. It's only two room on top of a diving center.
Located in Isla Grande, Macondo Hostel features a garden and terrace. The hostel provides a shared lounge. All rooms come with a shared bathroom. Super clean and tidy place. Very nice host who takes care of you and make sure you have everything you need. Nice house with personal touch and funny dogs of the owner around. Lay back and chilled vibe✌️good coffee and pancakes. Thank you so much for great hosting!
Portobelo is a very nice, small, quiet, quaint town. There isn't much to do in the town but the beaches nearby are stunning. Pay extra and take the trip to Playa Blanca, it will be worth your time.
Beautiful beaches and landscapes, less than 2 hours away from the city and roads in good shape. We were 8 adults with 2 children less than 2 years of age and we all had a great time at Playa Blanca, calmed clear waters was what we were looking for. A family was cooking and selling lunch at the beach, lobster and shrimp for $7 the plate, but you should always take everything you need with you since there's nothing but the beach, sand and trees.
It was good for an overnight stay to see the somewhat neglected forts and customs house. It was during the rainy season so power was intermittent and the weather sticky. Would probably be much better during the dry season.
Portobelo is very small and can probably be done in a 24hr trip as we did, but I would have liked to spend a little longer to relax on the hammock! plus learning the history of each settlement is very exciting to me. I particularly wanted to know more about the port of trade here. We didn't do the most recommended activity of visiting beaches in a motorboat, so that would also require more time.
Funky little town that grows on you. Good (if small) museum about the history of the area. Cool old fortress ruins. Gorgeous bay that really looks like it's right out of Pirates of the Caribbean. Gorgeous deserted beaches accessible nearby by boat. Good scuba diving and great snorkeling.
Nice location but the resort needs alot of work. The rooms were never cleaned during our 4 day stay. The shower was terrible if it worked at all we had two days with no water and half a day without electric.Hard place to access the water unless you pay them to take you to their private island and two days we were there they had groups so that option wasn't available. Town is a short taxis ride and we took a water taxis which was much cheaper and took us to a better beach. Captain Jacks is a must great food, lots of great information about the area and Jeff is alot of fun.
