Located on a private island, the waterfront Hakamanu Lodge offers rooms with a private balcony overlooking the lagoon. Guests enjoy free kayaking and snorkeling equipment. The facilities were beautiful and comfortable and the setting was Idyllic. The fresh fish for dinner was amazing. It was a beautiful and relaxing location.
On an idyllic pink and white sandy beach, Tikehau Pearl has oceanfront accommodations with a private patio. It features a day spa, a swimming pool and free kayak rental. When I planned a visit to Tahiti, I insisted we had to stay in an overwater bungalow and this was the place to do it. The staff are very friendly and this is the type of resort where you don't lift a finger. We were greeted at the airport where they took our bags and they are not seen again until you get to your room (don't waste time trying to figure out what do to when you land like I did). You get in a van and they drop you off at a small marina where you hop in a boat to the resort. You are welcomed with a drink and a flower lei while you register. We stayed in the premium overwater bungalow. The regular overwater bungalows have a shared pier to jump in the water and the premiums have their own pier. Get your own pier as you don't do this often or get a beach bungalow if you are saving money. The rooms are fun and have a glass square in the floor so you can see the fish (there are tons of fish everywhere). The bed is very comfortable with plenty of pillows. There is cleaning service twice a day. The swimming is easy. The water is mostly shallow but it can get up to your neck in some places. You swim with sandals so be sure to pack that. There is free snorkling gear at the reception which you'll want. The water is clear and nothing scary is swimming in it. There isn't much to do but sun and sand. You can scuba, get married, and eat. We ended up going to the main island for lunch and there are 3 snack places that had some tasty food to change things up. It's a great place for a few days but I can see people wanting more after a while. The check out was smooth. They slide a check out itinerary under your door which tells you when to have your bags ready (which they grab and you see them again at the airport) and when you have to leave the room. We got a free late check out so we had a great last day of lounging and lunch before getting in the boat.
5 miles from Blue Lagoon Rangiroa, Ninamu Resort is located in Tikehau and has a private beach area and free WiFi.
Fafarua Lodge is a private island, located a 30 minutes' boat ride from Tikehau village. The property offers guests all-inclusive meals, free transfers and free use of kayaks and paddle boards.
There is so much snorkeling (or diving, I cannot know as I am not certified in diving) to see within 3 oceanic channels of this place; do NOT cut your time short here as the food and night sky easily justify the time!!!

Remote! Being isolated is a trade-off and creates some constraints (see other section). Yet, the staff is welcoming and warm. They will help you enjoy Tikehau and find the right excursions for you. Food is excellent and diverse. The site is wonderful ... you could even spend your whole stay there (snorkeling, aquariums, sunsets, walks on the nearby islands…). The location is so amazing that tours will stop next to it for snorkeling and picnic. Great place to stay!

The staff is so friendly and helpful. The overwater bungalow suites are amazing as are the beach bungalows. The water on Tikehau is the most beautiful color we have ever seen.
