Gorgeous city by the sea.
Gorgeous city by the sea. Beautiful blend of the old and the new, from a bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel to a modern shopping plaza in the centre of town near the main train station. A definite Parisian feel with lots of colorful sidewalk cafes and shops along clean, tree lined streets. Viano do Castelo has a nice maritime feel to it with nearby beaches, historic old city center, many good restaurants, and sits below the amazing Santa Luzia Cathedral. One must visit the Cathedral and if daring go up to the top of the Cathedral (mix of elevator and then steps) for the best 360 degree views of the region, ocean and land.

I loved everything about Viana do Castelo.
I loved everything about Viana do Castelo. It was New Year's Eve and the atmosphere was incredible. Definitely one of the best nights of my life! The people, the decorations, the lights and although a lot of fun was being had, it just felt so safe and welcoming! The next morning the streets were spotless, everyone wishing you a Happy New Year and it was all in all just perfect. I'll definitely be coming back. In fact I'd love to live there!Pickford

The pool was lovely and clean and we had a quick dip arfter walking all day and it was great. Ana and Luis are so very kind, Luis gave me a lift into town and took me to the station the next morning at no extra cost. I had a wonderful breakfast out in the sunshine which got delivered in a beautiful basket with everything one could want. There is a swimming pool and the garden is beautifully tended. Thank you very much for your Kindness. I hope to visit again.
