A little piece of heaven away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown core. It was in easy walking distance to several restaurants and shopping in Villa Morra. It was in a quiet neighborhood so there was no street noise to disrupt your sleep. The rooms are lovely but the best part was being able to escape the heat and humidity in their pool. Swinging in the hammocks on the outside patio was the perfect place to relax. The staff were attentive and helpful. They organized a private tour of Asuncion with a local guide which we would highly recommend. We also used their laundry service and this was reasonably priced. We highly recommend this lovely boutique hotel.

    I am planning to stay a few months here but after a week I can tell everyone that this city has a lot to offer, a lot of potential and I do recommend Asuncion . There is public transportation but I always used Bolt. that is like Uber, is safe, unexpensive and quick. There are no too many restaurants and cafeterias in the city center where I am staying, and for sure they need more supermarkets. Palm street is very nice specially during the weekend and holydays. All government buildings are in this area. It is a very old city and many buildings needs complete restauration. There is lot of policemen everywhere and they very polite and they help find any place you are looking for.

    The people are nice and the food is good, but there’s really not much to see from a tourist perspective. I think parts of it had been destroyed as a result of wars. I did like the leafy streets in some sections of the city. Otherwise, the city is fairly non-descript.

    Charming city to visit.

    Charming city to visit. Not much to see unless you like strolling through shopping malls but you can do that back home but very unique place to visit. Nice that none of the tourist attractions charged an entry fee. People are very friendly. I recommend no more than a three day stay.

    I had heard good things about Asuncion for livability, cost...

    I had heard good things about Asuncion for livability, cost of living, accepting of expats and safety. I wanted to check it out and this trip gave me the opportunity. The location is very near the Argentine border and easy access. There is quite a large group of expats living there already.

    This has got to be the most boring capital city in the world...

    This has got to be the most boring capital city in the world. I include Cheyenne, Wyoming in this assessment. There is not much to do or see. Its very hard to find a decent restaurant anywhere and the people in the service industry all sit around and play on their phones rather than actually serve. You don't have to tip there, and you really don't ever feel the need to.

    Sprawling unkempt dirty city.

    Sprawling unkempt dirty city. Limited areas where one felt safe. One drives through very poor shanty suburbs to get anywhere. Every property is skeins by high grills. The city is creating with police. Doesn't make one feel at ease. A very visible contrast between the few well-off and the rest. It's interesting to have been there but wouldn't waste time going back. Some nice restaurants.

    The name of the hotel isn't Central Hotel, it's Riviera Puerto Hotel Asunción. So first, our Uber driver went to the wrong place because of that. The staff was unfriendly and unmotivated. They didn't answer our questions and gave us wet towels. The door of our room stood open when we arrived, and we could smell it from the outside. The room itself was full of mold. I'm traveling for more than 16 months now and have never left a hotel without staying there before. At least we got our money back.

    Hinrich & Katarina, the hosts are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The location is as good as it can be for Asunción's old centre. Facilities are great. The best thing about the stay has to be the beds! I have tried 3 different rooms here and the beds are all prime quality in each. The place is also very very clean. A smart first stop for any traveller coming to Asunción.

    It is rare to stay in a place that is recognised as a place with historical value. Asuncion Palace is such a place. Steeped in history, and full of character, the rooms were big with features reflecting its history. I had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to go back when I visit Asuncion next.
