Pensiunea Micutul Vrajitor is located in Arefu and offers rooms and bungalows, a restaurant and a bar, and a children's playground. Traditional living in the heart of Walachia. Super local kitchen, the castle Poenari stands nearby. Transfaragasan highway starts next to the hotel.
Featuring free WiFi and a barbecue, Pensiunea Diana offers pet-friendly accommodations in Arefu, next to Vidraru lake and 1.9 mi from DN7. Free private parking is available on site. Nice people that manage the place, even though our stay was short we enjoyed it.
Located in Arefu, Casa Matteo has a garden. Featuring a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. There's a grill and guests can use free WiFi and free private parking. Wow! This is a really unique place to stay. A very pleasant room right on the Transfăgărășan road. It is designed beautifully, combining traditional wood and bricks, right in the nature, with a pleasant garden. A must-stop on the road to relax, recharge and continue your trip. We stayed there only for one night, and wished we stayed longer.
Stunning scenery, but be aware the road can do with some repair. It is easy to get around coming from Curtea de Arges, stop and take a look around Vidraru dam. We had a quick lunch at Cumpana, unfortunately the 7 km from the main road to the location are quite an adventure even with an SUV on dry road. We had excellent dinner and accommodation at Cabana Capra.
Sorry, I don't know what is Arefu.. I've traveled Transfagarasan road from south to north, and was completely happy with it. All was beautiful: mountains, Balea dam, Balea lake, Cabana Capra hotel, waterfalls, cheese, honey and weather...
The house and the garden is very nice. The owner is a very nice a helpful person. We had a parking space and a nice view over the city and the surrounding hills. The house is located in the town not very far from the main road. We have spent a Saturday night there, the day of the week when weddings are often celebrated. Due to this event we had a very noisy night with little sleep. The rooms have no air conditioning, one must keep the windows open during the summer time. The breakfast is not included in the price, the quality of the food was not worth the extra costs. We would not recommend this place for weekend travellers.
Highlights were horse riding and ride in horse and carriage, arranged for us by the owner at the hotel. The dam is worth a visit as is the castle nearby, if you don't mind steps (1480 if them) the view from the top is spectacular.
The view , the waterfalls and the quick acces to Transfagarasan wich is sensational in particular watching from Balea point view . You can eat at Balea Lac where are couple of restaurants and traditional products . In the front of the Complex Capra is a Aventura Park but unfortunately is closed from 6 months but you find at Balea Lac a nice tiroliana and cabel car to Balea Cascada .
