They gave us a lot of advice and information about the island. Also whenether we needed to go anywhere Alex was always there to give us a lift by car. Also although the owners told us they used to have a problem with the neighbour who had 40 dogs and it was pretty loud, now everything is sorted out. So the area is super calm and our stay there was excellent ;)
Hotel in Victoria
Located amid the tropical forests of Morne Seychellois National Park, The Station Retreat Hotel Seychelles features a variety of spa treatments and is just 15 minutes’ drive from Beau Vallon Beach. The concept by Peter and his wife Jenny is unique. The focus on seven virtues of our life and integrating these in a hotel was refreshing. The decor and the location was top class. Definitely a place to stay at least a week if not more to rejuvenate one self.
The sence of being back in a climate with wind and rain was lovely, the staff are so helpful and attention to details is a compulsion with the group. I would highly recommend this as a location for anyone planning on visiting this unique island.
Worth hiring a car or a driver for the day as individual taxi rides are very expensive. Very beautiful, amazing beaches! Some fantastic beaches for snorkelling or just relaxing. The seafood in all the restaurants is freshly caught. If you are lucky you will even see the fisherman pull up in his boat with his catch. Cocktails tend to be very expensive, best to stick to beer.
the city is very small. there is not much to do except for excursions and visiting other small islands. the local buses are nightmare it takes one our from hotel to victoria where there is not many things to do except for temple, clock tower and some local market. the bus ride is very very bumpy and buses are not comfy and looked dirty. It only costs 5 rupees per person. beware though excursions are super expensive. costs between 1700-2900 rupees per person via masons travel agency. we have only done two excursions and stayed in the hotel or went to other beaches. taxi is also expensive 800 rupees to go to baeu vallon or anse royal from hotel one way only. the nature and beaches were very nice. the hotel offers shuttle from hotel to victoria that costs around 600 rupes per person. south and north beach timings are different we were told that from may to november south beaches are wavy and have seaweed problem, lots of seeweed. so we preffered the north beaches. south is nice between dec-april months we were told by locals. The takamaka rum is very tasty by the way :) we found it very hard to eat outside the hotel and we could not see any proper restaurant around. The nature is very nice and peaceful that is what i liked the most, calm, peaceful and lots of birds singing everywhere. On wednesdays, there is also local market in baeu vallon where you can get some food and souvenirs from locals. there are some dogs in the beach and they were harmless i fed some of them with chicken leg and they appreciated it ;)
Quiet place, you need car to travel around the island. The nearby marine reserve, port launay is only 5 mins drive away and is amazing for snorkeling. Port glaud is also 10mins drive away from morne national park
It's paradise on earth; at a quiet, beautiful spot on the island (and a car is recommended). The villas are beautiful and modern. Highlight: the terrace takes your breath away - impressive mountains and gorgeous sea! Ulrike was a perfect host, even taking care of the issue with the rental car we had ... we would definitely recommend Villas de Jardin!
For eating out try Del Place innPort Glaud. Beautiful situation . Very romantic . Great food & excellent service . Fabulous beaches close by. You do need a car ( only a small one, roads are narrow ) Constance Ephelia resort has some great beach restaurants if you can't be bothered to cook & lovely beaches. Loved it here. West Coast is definitely the most beautiful side of the Island.
