Offering an à la carte restaurant, Guest House Kmečki Hram is located in Idrija and provides rooms with free WiFi access. We wanted a quiet week in the mountains and booked this place without any expectations. What we found, was possibly the most friendly and genuine host we could've hoped for. The owner, Milka looked after us like family. The rooms were clean and well maintained and the views from the balcony and terrace were an added bonus. We were served a variety of good locally sourced food and drinks on request, they were very accommodating to our 2 dogs and regularly extended breakfast serving times to accommodate for our tardiness! To top it all off, they showed such concern for our weary feet, that they lent us the use of their car for visiting the nearby towns for the duration of our stay. We can't rate their hospitality highly enough. If you're looking for a home from home in the mountains, we would highly recommend!
Surrounded by green nature, Hostel Idrija offers free Wi-Fi, free parking, a lounge room and a shared kitchen equipped with a fridge, stove and kitchenware. A historic old building kept clean and functional. Spacious. Well equipped and stocked kitchen and a large dining room. A spacious living room with many sittings. Outdoor sittings under roof. All space was very clean. Clean linens and enough closets to store bags. Board games and books are available. Quiet. Ordering delicious pizzas from restaurant Barbara was fun. Minutes of walk to Mercator and Spar.

Apartment Sever is located in Idrija and offers a terrace. The accommodations is 17 mi from Bohinj, and guests benefit from private parking available on site and free WiFi. Mira and Bojak (not sure about the spelling) were amazing hosts, very communicative and helping. We spent 5 nights there and enjoyed every minute. There are so many things to see around. Although we made a plans before, we decided to take Mira’s tips and spent days in the rivers and lake around Idrija. The horses next to the apartment are so beautiful and friendly, we felt in love with each one of them. Thank you for everything, hope to meet again:)

Super good breakfasts and dinners, made with local produce and love ;) Very informative and supportive hosts.
I live just 2 hours away from this city, part of UNESCO heritage sites, yet I had never visited it before: it was an amazing discovery! I travelled there by car and the voyage was somehow a great adventure, passing through mountains and narrow roads... but it was all worth it: Idrija is a charming city, clean and welcoming, surrounded by the green of the mountains and the endless blue of the sky. I booked a room in the city center, stayed one night and for both days I moved by feet: everything is close to the city center. Museums, lace shops (a great tradition here), restaurants, groceries shops, the remaining traces of the town's mining past (anthony's road into the mercury mine, the kamst with the huge water wheel, the miner's house, the smelting house with its new and interactive museum...)... plus, an overwhelming nature just out of the door! You can't miss the old Franja partisan hospital just 15 mins away, completely renewed after the flood of 2007. I'll definitely be back again, granting me some time more to see everything and eat tons of tasty slikrofi! ;D
Idrija is an attractive old town, with a rich history, famous for mercury mining, lace-making, and special dumplings. The town museum is especially well-presented, in a handsome old, centrally-located "castle", with new displays and plenty of information in Slovenian and English. Excellent information about the mercury mining and lace-making. Also local history, especially 20th-c. wars. Not far away: The intriguing gorge-hidden Partisan Hospital from WWII.
Sparse place. Some friendly people some downright miserable. Not much to do at night, a few places open and I mean a few. Fir the fishing it's the best, anything else is outdoor ish, walking, hiking, cycling, water sports. Checkout the nutters next to Hoffer/Aldi supermarket before Sp. Idrija, must be inbreeding or the levels of mercury poisoning. It's like a freak show but most are harmless souls.
