DAM Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel that is well situated to explore not only the Slovenian wine region, but also to easily explore all of Slovenia's many charms. The hotel is very tastefully decorated and beautifully landscaped, including a newly added pool. There is a lovely bar that serves the restaurant for pre/post dining cocktails and is also used for the breakfast service. Michelin starred DAM Restaurant situated in the hotel is something to be experienced! It is helmed by the charming chef Uroš Fakuč and every course is personally supervised by him; mouthwatering seafood prepared to perfection! And highly recommend getting the wine pairing; Uroš pairs every course with wine from the region. The meal was so good, we went back the next night; chef Uroš prepared a seven-course meal just for us so that we didn’t have to eat the same thing twice! Talk about personalized service. If you are visiting Slovenia, especially the wine region, there is no reason to look any further than Dam Boutique Hotel and Restaurant!

We loved our stay. We were by bicycles, and the bike storage was great. We really appreciated it. We loved the room, the breakfast, and the location, which is next to the Solkan bridge, a masterpiece of civil engineering. Everything was excellent indeed. We only stayed one day, but we need to explore the Vipava Valley further. The hotel is located in a former mansion of a duke. I agree that this is a way better usage of the space :D. The staff were fantastic. Both check-in and check-out went smoothly; you feel welcome, experience warmth, and enjoy a great sense of hospitality. The same is with the staff during breakfast and with the room maintenance, all deserve a big chocolate cake :D Thank you so much for making our holiday even more glamurous.

Super quaint and tiny.

Super quaint and tiny. Loved it and the views but super quiet mid week - the town was pretty empty except for other travelers. Resto options limited mid week - so plan ahead and do your research. There’s a grocery store ~2 miles away and a bakery en route to the grocery story so you can stock up there if you need to. I’d def recommend Šmartno - but shoulda planned to be there on a Thur or Fri evening (not Tue and Wed) to get a different vibe. Wine bar in town is wonderful, as is the olive bar restaurant (tiny!! All home made!). We also hired a private wine guide one afternoon (Slocally) thoroughly recommend!!

A beautiful village in an amazing location.

A beautiful village in an amazing location. If you want Tuscany without the crowds, come here! We stayed for a week and I'm glad we had this much time as there was so much to do. Every day we went for a long walk or we rented e-bikes so we could explore even more of this beautiful region. Also recommend the wine tasting at Klet Brda in Dobrovo as it's great value. A few things to note: Public transport isn't frequent, so our host graciously picked us up from the train station and we hired a driver to take us to the train station on our departure. Groceries are availabe in Dobrovo and Kojsko.

The host was lovely. We were provided with a variety of leaflets with activities in the local area(alongside a few glasses of wine). We definitely recommend Sabotin for the WW1 caves and tunnels and the stunning views. The apartment is beautiful. We could watch the sunrise across the vineyards from the bedroom. The bed was so comfy. We loved the Nespresso machine and pods! We wished we stayed longer. The local wine bar is lovely with nice views. There is a lot to do in the area around Smartno.

The apartment was spacious, nicely furnished, and well cared for, with very good overall cleanliness. The location in the Slovenian Collio (Goriška Brda) is truly charming: it is set in the picturesque village of Šmartno, right above a winery, which makes it probably the best option in the area. The staff, a group of young people, was very friendly and always ready to meet guests’ requests. A very pleasant stay and definitely recommended.

Close to entrance of Šmartno, the superior apartment is spacious and has a functional kitchen, and a comfortable sleep for 2. Lovely views, with double glazed shuttered windows. Our host was very friendly and the breakfast served about 200m away in their communal breakfast room. Nice selection of cheese, cold meats & boiled eggs, cereals and machine coffee.
