This was our 3rd trip to Big Bear.
This was our 3rd trip to Big Bear. It was nice to know our way around and go back to some of our favorite places, including the Village, the bowling alley, and the Alpine slide area. We also enjoyed renting a pontoon boat and did go carts for the first time and it was a blast. Can't wait to return next spring!

There were a couple of very attractive trails for biking which is one of the reasons we chose Big Bear. We also enjoyed strolling in Big Bear Village...some nice shops and a good variety of restaurants.
Beware that the roads leading to Big Bear are very windy and some people choose to go much faster than the speed limit so I would suggest going only on slow traffic days and in good weather.

Charming place, the Village was a lovely place with many stores and restaurants. I advise to book restaurants in advance during the holidays because it gets full and it can be hard to find a place to eat. We ended up in a restaurant named "Sizzler" very late on Dec 24th, and it surprised us with very good steaks and shrimps plus good service.

I was there before the first snow.
I was there before the first snow. Not too crowded, not too empty. Just perfect, probably the last days of fall. It is magic if you like hiking, and looking for refuge in nature. Locals are extremely warm. For shoppers, there is an attractive shopping area.

Traveled to Big Bear to visit son.
Traveled to Big Bear to visit son. My stay at Lagonita Lodge was AWESOME, right on the Lake with lots of amenities! Off-Season price was very affordable for apartment/condo unit with FULL Kitchen and a Living Room with Fireplace!! Staff was friendly and very helpful. I was stranded at Lodge when my son experienced car trouble. NO UBER Services in off-season! NO RENTAL CAR AGENCIES in Big Bear!! Thank God there was a Friday Night Welcome Party that evening at the Lodge, with lots of FREE, delicious food and drinks; otherwise, I may have gone hungry, LOL! There are probably Grub Hub or Door Dash services, not sure! Employees Mike and Cindy (hope I have her name right, she was new), were wonderful and lots of fun to be around at events! Fantastic place for a Family Reunion or a Class Reunion. LOVED the fireplace and my second floor view of the lake! Not accustomed to driving mountain roads, scary! My negative feedback is there were no assigned parking spaces and we could never find an open spot, had to park on the street and walk!! The tub enclosure had MOLD. My son brought me Tilex, I sprayed tub ledge and some of the MOLD disappeared. The rest of the mold was caulked over and could not be cleaned!! Overall, a great place to stay! Dinner at AZTECA Mexican Grill was delicious and the SANGRIA was killer!! Best Sangria, lots of fruit!! LouEddie’s Pizza outside Big Bear in Sky Forest on State Hwy 18 is fantastic, pizza is scrumptious, great views on Rim of the World Highway, Scenic Overlook! Maggio’s in Big Bear had a wonderful Spinach Salad! Took day trip to Palm Springs to go on Aerial Tramway, what a thrill.
