Chicago was such a cool city to visit. I like to live life at a slower pace, so two days was plenty of time for me to spend in the fast paced city. I was not prepared to need a recovery day or two from all of the walking and biking we did while there. 😅 definitely plan for that! The Museum of Science and industry was fun but would’ve been more fun if we had kids. The aquarium was a blast, there were beluga whales and penguins! Biking around Chicago was so much fun, there is so much to see and the Ubers/Lyfts were too expensive to constantly be using. Our favorite adventure was the SkyDeck! It was absolutely breathtaking. I will definitely visit Chicago again!
I am NOT city person who would like visiting cities with skyscrapers, but I got impressed too much from that city. I love it. Night walk on the streets and coastline of Chicago was superb. Next day, I visited free ZOO which I liked so much. I got touched of that city and I am impressed how my expectations turned to the positive memories. I did not see a lot in the city, but I think I saw the most important places. The city is pretty much expensive and I tried to do my best of exploring. Now I can say I love Chicago.
We had a blast in Chicago! We would highly recommend the Architecture Boat Tour and Field Museum. We went to the Shedd Aquarium and it was fun but probably more fun with kids. My husband and I felt the same way about the Museum of Science and Industry. We were happy we got to see the visiting Pompeii exhibit and take the U boat tour, but the rest of the museum was kid centric and it was just the two of us. We loved the Field Museum! It was wonderful with or without kids. We ate deep dish pizza at Giodano's, got a Chicago style hot dog from the stand outside the Field Museum, and got an Italian beef at Luke's on Jackson. All were great examples of these Chicago classics. For our "fancy" meal, we ate at Bar Mar and it was fabulous! Go if you get the chance. We tried to go to the Art Institute but it's closed Tuesday and Wednesday (who knew?!) so head up on that.
Chicago is a fantastic American city with much to see and experience. We took one of the architecture tours by river boat and went to Lincoln and Millennium Parks, the Chicago Art Institute, a quirky bookstore-pub called Kibbitznest, and went up and down the River Walk several times. Did I say that the restaurants are fantastic? We also spent time in the Harold Washington Library where the 9th floor atrium was gorgeous.
This hotel was very misleading in regards to their cancelation policy. I was due over $300 for cancelling. The hotel told me that it was non-refundable and I had paperwork stating otherwise. I did not get the refund due me. So....on top of me being screwed by the dealership selling the car that I put a deposit on out from under me, I was out $566+ on my hotel room. This hotel sucks and has improper practices installed into their reservation system. They couldn't find my reservation when I called them. I called the Manager and she chose not to deal with me...Coward!!!
Chicago is an amazing city with so much to do and see. We visited as we had tickets for a concert at the Allstate Arena which is about 30-40 minutes out of the city’s but we wanted to be in the centre. We managed to fit in the Architecture Lake Cruise, visited the History museum and the Aquarium alongside the lake walk. There are plenty of shops for some retail therapy and an abundance of restaurants and bars. The only issue is the transport, we were warned not to be use the CTA metro to get to the Allstate Arena as apparently it wasn’t safe , it’s not manned and vagrants use it as home. There is also no direct bus or coach service to the arena which is crazy if there are concerts or other events going on… someone is missing a trick. Instead we used uber to get there but booked a taxi for the return journey as uber were cancelling at the last minute when the concert ended (we found this out from friends who attended the evening before. Apart from the transport issue. I would definitely visit again for a little longer.
Loved my stay there. If you’re driving to Chicago this is the perfect location to stay at because downtown is literally 5 minutes drive away and you can save money by staying here and driving to Downtown. Hotel was good and clean with all the basic facilities. Room was very spacious. If you are driving there you need to find parking as its not free. But there are streets right opposite to the hotel where you can find free parking.
The hotel is in a very good location, perfect for all activities in downtown Chicago. The room was nice and clean, and I did not hear the much sound from the street with the window closed. However, the door to the corridor did not block any noise, and one of the other doors made a kind of squeaking sound whenever opened or closed, often during the late evening, which was annoying.
Very charming, maybe a little dated, hotel close to old town Chicago. Fantastic personnel, Good alternatives for breakfast lunch and dinner at the hotel. Amazing roof top bar! Very good location if you don´t need to stay in the city center. Good and cheap public communication. Close to the beach! Close to the Zoo! All in all good for everybody!
The hotel is located right in the centre of downtown Chicago, just beside the river. It is within a minute's walk of several shops, resteraunts and bars. I had a nice room overlooking the river. There are self service washing faccilities on-site that guests can use free of charge, which is great if you are staying for a few days.
Ok because of some of the reviews here and consider the price is lower then other 5 stars hotels in Chicago, I came with low expectations. I must say I was completely surprised and in the most positive way. The all stay was terrific: the room, the facilities, the service- everything. A genuine five stars experience.
We stayed at this hotel during COVID-19 with kids and despite it, we felt safe and secure. The rooms are spacious and offer everything one would need. Stuff was helpful and kind. The hotel is in the middle of downtown, close to the train and metro station, and easily accessible to major sights Chicago offers.
Chicago Loop, Chicago
The breakfast was good, though only available between 7 and 9am. The rooms were spacious. My roommates were very nice. The location was perfect for exploring Downtown Chicago on foot as well as easy to reach from the airport. Notices on boards with recommendations for activities, sightseeing etc.
The hotel is in a great location on the Chicago River one block off Michigan Ave., walking distance to many of the attractions downtown. The staff at check-in and the bell hops are friendly. For the best experience request a high floor facing the Chicago River.
I loved the location and the comfort or the bed/room! The hotel is small but is so well distributed, clean, and location couldn't be best. Despite being in downtown, the noise wasn't a big issue at all. I'd return with no doubt to this hotel!
It was the cheapest hotel nearest to downtown. Nothing fancy, just a place to sleep. Close to the river and plenty or restaurants around. Clean room and cheap parking.
Location is the best asset of this hotel. If you plan to visit Chicago downtown, you are walking distance from many of the most popular places
The hotel was beautiful, navigating the parking garage was a headache but not bad given downtown Chicago
