Warwick Allerton Chicago, hotel in Chicago

Located among the shopping, dining and entertainment on the Magnificent Mile, this boutique hotel is located in the heart of downtown Chicago and offers historic architecture, on-site dining options...

The hotel was beautiful and location was excellent - right off the magnificent mile and within walking distance to the riverwalk, metro, and many restaurants, shops, and attractions. It was a cool experience getting to stay in a historical hotel for a reasonable price. I didn't get to enjoy all the amenities since I had such a short stay.

FAQs about hotels in Chicago

Our Kind of Town

Standing proud beside Lake Michigan, Chicago is down-to-earth, friendly, and full of culture. It has outdoor art by famous artists including Chagall and Picasso, and there are some fascinating architectural works from the Art Institute of Chicago.

Home to blues and house music, Chicago has an eclectic music scene that reflects its spirit. The Windy City is also a pioneer in a variety of Americanized dishes from it's European immigrant roots like deep-dish pizza and the Chicago hot dog.

The world’s first skyscraper and Ferris wheel were erected in Chicago. The latter, on Navy Pier, is one of the Midwest’s most visited sights. Also famed is the ‘L’ transport system, whose raised trains circle The Loop, the main business district. Check out its skyline reflection in the shiny bean sculpture in huge Millennium Park.

Home of the Bulls and Bears, Chicago is a stronghold of sport and has teams playing baseball, basketball, American football and hockey, to name a few. If you get a chance, try to catch a game.

Chicago Midway and Chicago O’Hare Airport are both on the outskirts of this vast city, so make sure to leave enough time for travel from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or hostel. And all that jazz.

My wife and I loved our stay in the Loop during late June 2024. Really enjoyed the sites and tourist attractions as well as the bars and food of the area. We would recommend a visit to anyone and can’t wait to return! Pequods had amazing pizza and Devil Dawgs made a great Chicago dog. Drinks at Cindy’s rooftop for the views of the bean. The Loop is overall very walkable but a full day up and down the area is still very tiring.

Chicago is a fun city to visit.

Chicago is a fun city to visit. Lots to see and do in good weather or bad. Feels like the seaside because the lake is huge and beaches are lovely. Great views from rooftop bars like Cindy’s and of course from the big towers. Food options range from pizza and hotdogs to elegant tasting menus, so something for everyone. Art Institute is fantastic for lovers of European art- so many Monet paintings in one room- unbelievable! Just check it will be open when you visit as it was closed two of the days I was there. CTA trains and metro are fantastic value and go all over the city. Only $3 in from O’Hare and $5 gets you a 24 hour ticket to buzz around on the “ L” . However, remember prices you see on menus etc don’t include the 10% tax and 20% tip which can rack up the prices of meals for a family. Tips are expected EVERYWHERE even when you just buy at the counter!

    Chicago was really interesting.

Chicago was really interesting. There were so many old ornate buildings in the downtown area. Many of these have been repurposed and the ornamental parts (like columns) have been retained. It's really interesting to walk around the downtown (especially Loop) area and look at the old buildings. What I don't like is that everything (including food, lodging, even OTC medical supplies) is at least 25% more expensive than they are at home. And ghats 25%+ after price increases that occurred due to inflation. So you will spend a lot of money when visiting Chicago. I only had 2 days to look around. Unfortunately, my partner and I picked up a case of food poisoning that took effect at the end of the first day. We were sick that night and slept until the following afternoon. So we lost most of the second day to illness. But we found that the people we interacted with in Chicago were very nice and helpful. The staff at the hotel did what they could to make us feel better. The people in stores and public employees everywhere were very helpful and treated us nicely. We weren't hassled by anyone and didn't feel unsafe. No sign of pickpockets. People seemed to be having a good time. The public transportation system is very good. We did not rent a car. Took the train from ORD to downtown with no problem and a nice person at the destination station showed us how to get to the hotel. We also used taxis and a powered rickshaw (to get back to the hotel after a concert at Soldier Field). Transportation was reasonably priced. There are lots of small unknown places you can go to see unusual items. For example, you can go to the 5th floor of Macy's downtown to see a Tiffany glass ceiling. We took one of the architectural boat rides. It was a hot day and the clouds helped keep the temperatures down. The trip was very interesting. The volunteer who provided information was very knowledgeable. It's worth doing this.

The most beautiful attractions is millennium park, I suggest to join the walking tour for many activities in Chicago.http://www.freetoursbyfoot.com The river side walking is also good. The chicago articture tour by boat is also good. When you visit the millennium park go to chicago athelatic building and do visit the restaurant on top of that building, the entry it is free, you can have good view. Do ride the brown route od elevated subway, it will help you to see the building infrastructure. Do visit the Gareeb Nawaz Restaurant in Chicago for good quality of indian food at low price. Take care of your surroundings and I feel that chicago is safe. People's unnecessary tell something wrong. Use Google map. Purchase 7 day pass it will work for subway train and all busses. Stay outside city ti save the money because transportation is very good and you will be in city center from any corner within one hour. Keep yor food and water with you to save money.

    A fun city to explore.

A fun city to explore. It is very easy to get around whether you choose to use car or public transportation. It has the feel of NYC without the overcrowding there. Plenty of opportunities to walk along the river and lake front. Lots of interesting parks and sights to see. I was slightly disappointed that I didn't get to go to the Art Institute (it was closed on Wednesdays and I hadn't prepared for that). Take advantage of the public transportation and explore some of the many neighborhoods of Chicago. I had an aventure exploring some of the Polish establishments around town and enjoyed some exceptional Polish and Korean foods. You could definitely eat your way through the city!! Hotel prices in the downtown/loop area of the city are going to be pricey so plan accordingly. BUT remember public transport is ample and accessible so you can definitely make it work if you stay further out from the cetner.

Best location in downtown Chicago! Easy to get to from O'Hare and only steps away from the riverwalk with all it's attractions.
