Chicago was such a cool city to visit. I like to live life at a slower pace, so two days was plenty of time for me to spend in the fast paced city. I was not prepared to need a recovery day or two from all of the walking and biking we did while there. 😅 definitely plan for that! The Museum of Science and industry was fun but would’ve been more fun if we had kids. The aquarium was a blast, there were beluga whales and penguins! Biking around Chicago was so much fun, there is so much to see and the Ubers/Lyfts were too expensive to constantly be using. Our favorite adventure was the SkyDeck! It was absolutely breathtaking. I will definitely visit Chicago again!
I am NOT city person who would like visiting cities with skyscrapers, but I got impressed too much from that city. I love it. Night walk on the streets and coastline of Chicago was superb. Next day, I visited free ZOO which I liked so much. I got touched of that city and I am impressed how my expectations turned to the positive memories. I did not see a lot in the city, but I think I saw the most important places. The city is pretty much expensive and I tried to do my best of exploring. Now I can say I love Chicago.
We had a blast in Chicago! We would highly recommend the Architecture Boat Tour and Field Museum. We went to the Shedd Aquarium and it was fun but probably more fun with kids. My husband and I felt the same way about the Museum of Science and Industry. We were happy we got to see the visiting Pompeii exhibit and take the U boat tour, but the rest of the museum was kid centric and it was just the two of us. We loved the Field Museum! It was wonderful with or without kids. We ate deep dish pizza at Giodano's, got a Chicago style hot dog from the stand outside the Field Museum, and got an Italian beef at Luke's on Jackson. All were great examples of these Chicago classics. For our "fancy" meal, we ate at Bar Mar and it was fabulous! Go if you get the chance. We tried to go to the Art Institute but it's closed Tuesday and Wednesday (who knew?!) so head up on that.
Chicago is a fantastic American city with much to see and experience. We took one of the architecture tours by river boat and went to Lincoln and Millennium Parks, the Chicago Art Institute, a quirky bookstore-pub called Kibbitznest, and went up and down the River Walk several times. Did I say that the restaurants are fantastic? We also spent time in the Harold Washington Library where the 9th floor atrium was gorgeous.
This hotel was very misleading in regards to their cancelation policy. I was due over $300 for cancelling. The hotel told me that it was non-refundable and I had paperwork stating otherwise. I did not get the refund due me. So....on top of me being screwed by the dealership selling the car that I put a deposit on out from under me, I was out $566+ on my hotel room. This hotel sucks and has improper practices installed into their reservation system. They couldn't find my reservation when I called them. I called the Manager and she chose not to deal with me...Coward!!!
Chicago is an amazing city with so much to do and see. We visited as we had tickets for a concert at the Allstate Arena which is about 30-40 minutes out of the city’s but we wanted to be in the centre. We managed to fit in the Architecture Lake Cruise, visited the History museum and the Aquarium alongside the lake walk. There are plenty of shops for some retail therapy and an abundance of restaurants and bars. The only issue is the transport, we were warned not to be use the CTA metro to get to the Allstate Arena as apparently it wasn’t safe , it’s not manned and vagrants use it as home. There is also no direct bus or coach service to the arena which is crazy if there are concerts or other events going on… someone is missing a trick. Instead we used uber to get there but booked a taxi for the return journey as uber were cancelling at the last minute when the concert ended (we found this out from friends who attended the evening before. Apart from the transport issue. I would definitely visit again for a little longer.
Great price for the location. Read reviews before you book it to not be surprised. Room is small but big enough if you're just spending one or two nights in Chicago. It's very clean which is important to me. Had everything we needed. Staff was very helpful and nice. If you're driving there's a parking on the other side of the street. It says $57 for the night but ask staff at the hotel and they'll give you a discount so you'll pay only $30 per night/24 h which is a good deal for downtown Chicago...
Room and view were awesome. Quietest room I've ever had - never heard another door close or neighboring room's conversation. Beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept very well. View on the 30th floor towards the water was beautiful. Perfect walking location to starting line of the Chicago Marathon. Food and drink selection was really good at the hotel. Great convenience store Bockwinkel's around the block for cheap meal options and to stock up on cheaper staples.
Chicago Loop, Chicago
The HI Chicago is one of the best HI I've ever been. Even in the low season, they organized plenty of free tours around the city and museums. Personally, the sunday's tour of the art museum is a must go to. My private room was clean and quiet enough to perform some remote working during the day. The kitchen and breakfast was way beyond my expectations. The position is in downtown close to any major public transit stations. Highly suggested!
Hotel is in great area near restaurants and parks. Dog friendly!!! If you have a dog and are traveling , choose this hotel. Only a 50$ fee here, cheaper then any other hotel in downtown Chicago. Nice rooms, nice pool, nice court yard. The rooms are big and nice lighting. The shower is awesome , rainfall shower head. Free showtime on the tv. Just a heads up, parking on Ohio street garage is cheaper through SpotHero then to pay the hotel.
Loved my stay there. If you’re driving to Chicago this is the perfect location to stay at because downtown is literally 5 minutes drive away and you can save money by staying here and driving to Downtown. Hotel was good and clean with all the basic facilities. Room was very spacious. If you are driving there you need to find parking as its not free. But there are streets right opposite to the hotel where you can find free parking.
the location was great & the staff was exceptional. my only complaint would be the rooms were very cramped and the bathroom had almost zero lighting, no fan and a sliding door that was very hard to open and close. It was nothing that made that big of a difference overall. the staff made up for it. the hotel was updated and gorgeous! parking was much cheaper than downtown and only a 20 min drive to the city.
Location is great in downtown Chicago. Grand station on the red line is only a couple of minutes walk away; the river is about 5 minutes and the Navy Pier is about 20 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel has a lovely swimming pool on the 17th floor that is open long hours (6am-10pm). I was fortunate to have a room on that floor and so I made good use of it. I never had to wait long for the lifts.
A really nice find in the Gold Coast area that is on a quiet street and close to Lake Michigan and downtown. It was easy to get in and out of the hotel and my room was clean and comfortable. The staff was also really friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again when visiting Chicago.
The location is amazing. Downtown Chicago. Target and Walgreens around the corner. Several good options. Movie theatre and navy pier in walking distance. Several parking lots (cheaper then $63 a night at the hotel). There are restaurants in the hotel and it’s right on the river walks
Centrally located Hotel in downtown Chicago. Modern design and spacious rooms. COVID: they clearly are concerned about Covid and did their best to provide a safe environment. Masks are mandatory, and they have social distancing even for the elevators.
Every staff member was courteous, professional, helpful and so friendly, especially Marwin who is a great listener. I will return to this ideally situated, fun, family oriented hotel located in a cool upbeat neighborhood in downtown Chicago.
Absolutely outstanding hotel, cannot recommend highly enough! Staff were exceptional, especially the concierge guys who could not have been more helpful. Room was terrific and the location in downtown Chicago could not have been better.
Really great hotel, expensive but its in downtown area near restourants and bars and in a walking distance to Chicago river, Magnificent Mile and the Navy pier. Really friendly and helpful staff and good breakfast.
The hotel’s location is amazing! you are in the middle of the Chicago downtown - and all the main sights are walkable. it was really comfortable.
Nicely located, Hampton Inn Chicago Downtown/N Loop/Michigan Ave is a perfect choice for visiting downtown Chicago.
The location is the best. Right in the downtown Chicago. Close to everything.
