Forks is a tiny town that is a great launching pad for day trips to Olympic National Park and other Olympic Peninsula destinations. If you haven't been to the Olympic Peninsula, it should be on your "must see" list. Don't plan on fine dining or shoppertainment--Forks does not offer many amenities, but it does have the basics. The attraction is the stunning natural beauty of the Peninsula and the Park. I spent three days there and that was a good amount of time to see most of the features of the Park and do a bit of hiking. Plan for more time for longer hikes and camping, both of which I recommend.
We came to Forks for the same reason a lot of people do. We’re twilight fans. The welcome center was an awesome place to start and gave us everything we needed to find the landmarks we were hoping to find. Forks was a great home base to visit the Hoh and also La Push. Twilight brought us here, but I’m so glad to have visited the state of Washington! It’s beautiful!
Forks is one great small town. All of the amenities that a person would want are wrapped up here. We loved having pancakes for breakfast, Mexican food for dinner, tourist memorabilia, close proximity to the Olympic National Forest, the Hoh Rain Forest, really friendly people, a welcoming church on the main road through town and a very large hardware store, as well as a well-stocked grocery store. I'm looking forward to coming back during the rainy season. I love rain!
Handy for ruby beach, Rialto beach, hoh forest .. but in future I would stay in the port Angeles side and drive in. It’s not that far and the food and motels and weather are much better on the east side
Liked most was proximity to Beaches and Rain Forest. Liked least, and this is more of a city thing because of pandemic- limited choices for food. Chinese Restaurant hotel clerk recommended went out of business! Also- very limited on places to shop. Forks is a small town and we are in a pandemic, I know, but it's just limited on what to even do in town. we think next trip we may stay in Pt. Angeles instead.
Do not visit Forks until June 1, 2020 or after due to COVID. All beaches and trail heads are closed at this time. Police and Rangers are aggressively patrolling the locations and you won't be able to "sneak" in.
