We took our pups on this extended weekend trip to dip our toes in the water with them for their first vacation. We knew with research that the town seemed to be pet-friendly, but were blindly being led by reviews. But let me tell you! Taking the dogs on this trip was not a hindrance. A majority of restaurants had outdoor patios that allowed well behaved pets and would bring water out to fill the bowls we brought. We ate at Sliders Oyster Bar, Hoptinger, and Mavi Waterfront Bar & Grill. Sliders had a great covering with fans making it the perfect spot for lunch; Food 10/10. Hoptinger has a small patio out front with high top tables, making it difficult if there are other pets out there; Food: 8/10. Mavi Waterfront Bar & Grill was a large restaurant with a large patio offering covered/uncovered high top and low top tables with a stunning view of the river. Upon arriving, we were given the choice of where to sit, was brought a dog bowl full of ice water and a pup cup; Food: 10/10. Souvenir shops were very friendly and allowed our pets to shop with us (just beware, a lot are “you break it, you buy it”). We didn’t do much shopping other than that, so I can’t attest to how other stores may be. Neptune beach allows dogs year round as long as you have shade and fresh water. Dogs are allowed off leash when in the water (ours were off leash anytime we were close the water). The beach was very clean and has life guards stationed along the coast. The waves were great, but eased some the further out you went. Overall, a town I highly recommend to take your furry companions.

the beach was beautiful.
the beach was beautiful. The hotel was under construction and we were not warned of the chemicals and dust. My daughter is pregnant and has a toddler. The elevators were all out except 1. The plumbing was bad and caused a delay to going to a birthday dinner with insistence to make repairs or come in the room while i was gone. The pool area is not updated. An umbrella fell on my daughter because it was broken.

Major surprise. It is desolated. There's nothing to do there, the streets are empty considering it was the beginning of the summer. Very few businesses catering to tourists, and some were closed. The ball of hay rolling down the street if you know what I mean.

Really liked the guest rooms.
Really liked the guest rooms. The living room/kitchen were separate from bedroom. Balcony's overlooking the ocean. Stayed at hotel 4/10-17/26 and beach wasn't so crowded then. Hotel Staff are very professional and accommodating. Liked that the hotel was close to shops and other restaurants. Bubba Gumps Restaurant was next door to hotel and food was good. Sizemore Coastal Kitchen is a short walk and very good food. Salt Life Restaurant on N. 3rd St. was also very good. Easy to get around Jacksonville. We visited St. Augustine and enjoyed it. It's a very busy town. The Cathedral was amazing. A must see.

Unfortunately the weather was not beach friendly. Rained every day and the winds were fierce. We still had a great time tho. Found indoor places to take the kids and found some good restaurants. Also shopping centers for anything one might want or need.

First time here, we felt comfortable and safe. Love this beach, because it was clean. Did not see any trash on the beach. We noticed that there were people still out walking late at night. This tells us that the area is safe to be out walking.
