Located on Florida Bay, The Pelican Key Largo Cottages offers accommodations in Key Largo. Guests can enjoy free WiFi during their stay. This is a lovely place with many decks where you can find sunchairs and enjoy beautiful sunsets. We had a very small room as expected, the bathroom was really nice, large and refurbished. Loved founders park visited the made man beach 2 days. Enjoyed the clean environment. Did not like the park staff wondering around all the time. You come to the beach to enjoy yourself and to relax not to be patrolled. Disliked twisted shrimp restaurant. It was horrible we went because it was first on the review but the food was unedible. We got there at 7:15 pm and they closed at 7:45 pm .We decided to tell them just to do a takeout. We returned to the Hotel with the food... it was horrible! We had to throw everything away.
Key Largo was not what we were expecting - nor for that matter was the rest of the Keys. It is massively built up, there are no beaches and the sea views are limited. We drove the 100 miles down to Key West - much of the road is through ribbon development or areas of vegetation where you can't see beyond the trees. Only a small part of the journey had good sea views and fabulous bridges. Key West was the nicest town on the Keys but a long way to go to get to it and even in April it was heaving. As a beach destination we much preferred Fort Meyers with its lovely white sand.
It is great to stay at Key Largo and do all things you can do at Key West. I love Key West. I usually stay the upper Keys and drive to Key West for a whole day. I go back after the Sunset. Many great places at Key West. Wreck A Shore Museum. Hemming-way’s Home, Sloppy Joe’s or any other places. Butterflies, Southern Most House… Take the Trolley. Hop on and Off. First ride around so you can hear the History. I always tip. Everyone does an amazing job. Do not be late for the sunset. Sit, wait, watch, love, listen. So many street performers. “What’s Your Hurry For”- The Keys Drive Slow! Go to Shell World in Key Largo. Homestead visit Robert is Here, then Alligator Farm, then Coral Castle. So you got time till your hotel room is ready. Go visit John Pennekamp. Kayak, Glass Bottom Tours, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving ( check with them ahead of time). Islamorada: The Theatre Of The Sea. Do a Dolphin interaction. Lots of amazing Restaurants. Tiki Boat Tour!!! Sunset one side. Sunrise the other side. You just have to cross the street in the upper Keys. “There is always 5’o clock somewhere. Please use Ocean Safe sunscreen and other products to protect the animals and the reefs. Thanks! You are going to love the Keys!
Key Largo was an excellent place to stay. Not so busy and is located in the center of the Keys with short access to Key West and Miami. Lots of great places to eat with excellent food. The traffic was busy and probably the main road was the only road used to get across the keys. However, we loved our stay in Key Largo and look forward to going again.
Our first day we decided to swim right off the hotel beach and used just basic swimming goggles. I immediately saw all types of ocean life, Starfish, crab, hogfish, BARRACUDA!!, and many others!!! Then 3 MANATEES swam right beside me! And that was the first day just at the hotel!! The hotel room was perfect the staff were amazing and the breakfast fantastic! The Hampton Inn Key Largo is a must if you're like me and my family and are looking for a peaceful stay with access to a beach, wildlife, great room, great pool, amazing staff, and abundant breakfast choices!! We can't wait to go back and bring our family and friends with!!!!
Very expensive and not worth the money. "Hotels" were really old, beat-up motels... and food at restaurants considered 4 to 5 stars (Yelp), were more like 2-3 stars in my experience elsewhere, so there's something left to be desired. The drinking and socializing experience was a bit lacking too as the locals are not so friendly. I've no intention to ever return or recommend to others to visit.
Key Largo
Location is pretty good for Key Largo: You can actually walk to a walgreens, a bank, a dive store, convenience stores, a dollar store, and a few other things. It's right on a canal, and next to some boat outings. Room was huge! One of the largest hotel rooms I've ever seen. Full kitchen with full sized fridge & freezer, sink, counter, dishes, silverware, stovetop & stove, microwave. Unfortunately no toaster or toaster oven, though. Price was on the low side for Key Largo.
Tavernier, Key Largo
The hotel location is outstanding with closeness to both Key Largo, Tavernier, Islamorade, etc and the hotel has great access to the hotel marina, pool area, parking, etc. We got great recommendations of restaurants and daily activities from the hotel staff which added even more value to our stay. The apartment as such was in good shape, spacious and fulfilled our expectations. Watching the sunrise from the hotel pier was a bucket list moment.
Key Largo
Close to restaurants and shops. The facility property was wonderful with a nice pool and patio as well as seating right on the water. We enjoyed coffee in the morning sitting in lounge chairs looking out over the water and watching the boats. No beach, but Key Largo doesn't really (surprisingly) seem to have many beaches. Still, we loved the location of the Inn and the rooms we had were very clean and newly renovated.
The price was great for Key Largo. We stayed on Thursday which was much cheaper than the weekend. The staff checking in was great. The handout and the conversations were very informative and we could tell it was a well managed property. It was very convenient being able to do the snorkel trip at the same location. The staff and price for the snorkel trip were great as well.
Everything was AMAZING!! Beautiful cottages, landscaping, quiet!! Awesome staff, friendly and helpful. Went snorkeling in the beach area on the property and saw, grouper and a bunch of other fish. Was lucky enough to have a Manatee swim near us. It stopped and watched us and I got to touch its tail as it swam away.
Key Largo
We were upgraded to one of the cottages, as there were 4 of us, and we loved it! So authentic "old Florida", very charming and comfortable. The breakfast was great, muffins and fritattas hot and delicious. The dock was great, as well as the amenities for recreations.
Key Largo
Great location on an inland waterway nice view and quiet. We’ve been coming to Key Largo for years and found this place to be one of the nicest, cleanest rooms we’ve stayed in. Plenty of amenities, close to everything and the room is well equipped and comfortable.
This small hotel is simply wonderful! Its nestled right on the beach, with amazing views and has a real relaxed lay back feel about it.. breakfast on the beach is a lovely touch. The staff are welcoming and extremely friendly. We will definitely be returning.

Spotless room, updated recently, fantastic location nearby Key Largo activities (deep sea fishing, snorkeling, etc). Friendly staff, nice little dock to see the ocean. COVID-19 care package in room (masks, wipes, hand sanitizer) - very thoughtful!!!

Key Largo
A must stay in key largo. Pretty good location but the hotel itself is beautiful no need to even leave the hotel. Jet ski and other water rentals right from the hotel beach. Definitely a must stay for future visits!
Key Largo
Great place to stay. Cute cottages, beautiful grounds, a real Florida feel - just feet from the water and sand. Not a Hotel chain, and that made all the difference for a real Florida Keys experience.
Key Largo
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel has a lovely little beach, where you can swim. The staff recommended us a lovely local restaurant and we had a very tasty dinner there.
Key Largo
Nothing. It was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at and I must have stayed at hundreds of hotels.
Hotel was superb.
