This Extended Stay America - San Rafael - Francisco Blvd. East is located in San Rafael and especially designed for longer stays, with all rooms featuring a kitchenette. Close to the highway, but relatively quiet (though we were on the opposite side of the building). Good size room with desk, refrigerator, stovetop, and an offer from the staff of plates and pots if we needed them.
Walking around in the small local towns. Best meals I had were at Piazza D'Angelo's in Mill Valley and the Garden Cafe in San Rafael. I think its best to rent a car to drive through all the local towns in the area. My favorite spot was the McNear's Beach.
