No words can explain how joyful my stay was. I was in Japan for almost one month, stayed in 7 hotels and Machiya was the only true "Japanese" Home away from Home. My room was spotless, shared bathroom was spotless and the kitchenette was adequate for basic daily needs. The owner was accessible every time I needed her. She had a mobile phone set in the reception ready for any emergencies. I loved the furniture in my room, carefully picked and reflected a lot of history. The books in the common area, the card games provided for a cosy evening in the hotel, I also loved the small beautiful garden and the restaurant recommendations in the room were useful too. I was helped to transfer my luggage to my next destination when I checked out. When I was leaving, I was greeted to the outside door like a family member. I was travelling solo and the warmth of the owner will always be a beautiful memory for Japanese hospitality. She even followed me outside when I took the wrong turn to my bus to the station. Thank you for an amazing experience and for the lovely present. I wish you a great year and I really hope I visit again soon.
