Arena Hostel Hamburg

Lurup, Hamburg

This Hamburg hostel is located at Eidelstedt S-Bahn Train Station, a 10-minute walk from the Barclaycard Arena and the Volksparkstadium. It offers free Wi-Fi and rooms with heated floors.

The simple rooms at Arena Hostel Hamburg feature colourful décor and a small seating area. A shared lounge with a flat-screen TV is situated on each floor. As a hostel I was expecting basic-but this place was anything but. The room had a large balcony and was equipped with a kettle, cups, glasses, salt and pepper and various toiletry items. The kitchen was spotless and well set out with plenty of storage for each room. There was a vending machine and a reasonably priced hot drinks machine too. It was situated about 10 mins walk from the arena and a couple of mins walk from the train station-so ideally situated. The lady on reception was very helpful and gave us some excellent advice. I would definitely use again

Hostels – what are they?

Hostels offer so much more than a cheap place to stay – they're also a fun way to travel and meet like-minded people. Common areas like shared kitchens and game rooms give you the chance to swap tips, tricks, and travel stories with backpackers from all over the world.

Hostels have come a long way since the first youth hostel opened back in 1912. Nowadays there's something for everyone, from budget "crash pads" to 5-star "poshtels." Whether you'd prefer a bed in a shared dorm or your own private room, you'll see that most hostels are cheaper than local hotels – and a lot more fun, too!
