It’s a special place, perfect if you seek to unwind from cities and travelling in a small community. It’s a very personal and chilled vibe because there are only three double rooms, so you’re not more than 6 people + Fernando who takes great care of his guests. He’s very helpful and attentive and checks in what kind of bread and drink you prefer for breakfast (it’s generally fruits, sweet or salty bread and coffee - not much but a great start into the day). He lives underneath the house and sometimes friends come over, so again, very friendly atmosphere and more a co-living than a hostel!

The property was lovely and comfortable, fires in the evening were a nice way to meet other travellers. The rooms were very spacious and not crowded at all, beds were sturdy and very warm with a duvet and blankets. (It gets cold at night). The kitchen was basic but well equipped. The garden is beautiful with lime and avocado trees. Friendly people and lovely atmosphere. Bathrooms and showers are always clean & often available. Wifi was great too.

Guest rooms include a safety deposit box. I really enjoyed my stay at Xelva hostel. When I was there it wasn't busy but I liked that it was quiet. However, a few friendly faces to say hi to, like Jorge the manager, who was always ready to help and provide assistance. The hostel is a bit further out of town but it's good for walking and not too far. A quiet area with some good places to eat nearby and also let's you experience another part of San Cristóbal. It's quite cold in the evenings in SC in January but you are given a duvet, blankets and a sheet. I slept cosy and comfortably every night with these. it's a comfortable bed with curtains. The hostel is pretty new and because of that has great facilities, hot water and good WiFi! It also has a nice view from the balcony and free coffee pretty much all day! I would definitely stay again.
