This is a beautiful oasis on the North part of the island of Ometepe. The property is a large piece of land with lots of pretty plants and trees, 2 friendly dogs, and some chickens. All throughout is thoughtfully crafted walkways and living spaces which are very well-kept. The dorm room felt super clean and the beds were comfortable. It is actually incredible how clean it is kept considering it is basically in the middle of nature. The ranch has plenty of hammocks and space to relax! The best part of this place is the couple that owns it, Daniella and Tony. They have a way of making everyone feel at home and bonding the guests staying there. It felt like we had our own little family for the week we stayed. They always made sure we had everything we needed from food and water to suggestions of what to do on the island. Daniella is an amazing cook and we enjoyed many delicious breakfasts of omelettes, fruits, homemade marmalade, etc. And Tony’s banana smoothies made me so happy! Everyone we met there ended up extending their stay, including us. I have never felt so comfortable anywhere I’ve stayed while traveling. This is a really special place where you can feel a little closer to home while being so far away.

She helped us with everything, we got sick and she literally took care of us. The location is great and the rooms are big enough with private bathroom, the breakfast was amazing as well.

El Zopilote Permaculture Farm/hostel is a backpackers hostel and a permaculture farm at the same time. We offer various types of hospitality like private rooms, dormitories, camping areas and... This place stands out with its vibrant community, beautiful location, activities, and amazing food. I wish for everyone to experience El Zopilote. I’m really grateful I discovered this place. I learned a lot about permaculture during my time here. This place is awesome! My stay at El Zopilote Ometepe was unforgettable, marked by friendly vibes, beautiful surroundings, and a true sense of community.

The place was very clean and tidy, tranquil, and no noise at night which is rare in Nicaragua because there's always someone making some noise. The food was quality, homemade vegan goodness. Making a fire was cool and it has all the modern amenities like a fridge and cooking equipment so you can bring beer. Didn't have any bugs unlike some of the other hostels i stayed in on Ometepe. It's quite a good location equidistance between the two towns and near the start of Volcan Concepción. I recommend renting an ATV rather than a scooter at the port and picking it up in Ometepe, don't trust the people on the San Jorge side. The hostel also offers scooter rental although I picked mine up at port. Very photogenic hostel and peaceful.

It’s a bit aside from the port city Moyogalpa, so it’s very calm and almost no cars and people here, but still easy to reach by foot from the Centre (15 min walk). It has breakfast included and it’s home cooked food by the family. My room was very spacious, with 1 double and 1 single bed. They had outlets outside and inside, so i could work online here. Ask for both WiFi passwords! The host family was very nice and always tried to help, like when I needed a dentist they found a number. They don’t speak English (as most locals here) but with my broken Spanish and google translate we always understood each other. You can also ask them about the laundry option. Thanks for hosting me!

Breakfasts and dinners were freshly prepared with local ingredients. Their dogs and cats were very nice to spend time with. The hosts can lease scooters and deliver them for competitive prices. Communication with host prior to and during stay was excellent.
