The rooms are comfortable and (at least off season) not crowded, guests are spread evenly into the dorms. Bedding and towels are clean, there are plenty of blankets. The breakfast is exceptional with plenty of choices, to point out the most unique: cake, fresh fruits, yogurt, good coffee. The staff are very nice, friendly, and welcoming. There is ample and quiet public space to work.

The hostel itself is unique and beautiful, perfectly complementing the charm of Loriga village. There’s a very cozy living room and a spacious, fully equipped kitchen that’s great for cooking. I highly recommend staying here!

Pousada de Juventude da Serra da Estrela is inserted in the scenic area of Serra da Estrela Natural Park. The unit is just 10 km from the nearest ski resort. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. They upgraded me for free to a double room with own bathroom. The room was very cozy. Highly recommended if you want to go for some hikes.
