Great location, nice, clean room and bath. Bed was very comfy. Breakfast was terrific. Easy walking to many great restaurants and beautiful street art in every direction. Our 12-day stay at Hotel California this month was a very pleasant one, thanks to the cordiality and professionalism of owners Johnny and Cata. Totally Spanish-English bilingual, they made booking fast and effortless plus gave us invaluable advice on what to see and do, where to eat, etc. in Valpo, surrounding beach towns, and the Casablanca wine region. The hostess and co-owner Catalina ("Cata") was wonderful. She is fluent in english/spanish and was very helpful when I needed to get a COVID test and transportation to the cruise ship. The restored home was beautifully done and has a lot of character. For breakfast, I was served fresh fruit, rolls and coffee. The property is within easy walking distance of restaurants and in the midst of the many murals that decorate the old city of Valparaiso. The queen bed was comfortable and the bathroom modern.

John was our host, cook and server, but also our conversation partner for breakfast time. Cata asked "what time would you like breakfast?" and John was there are ready for us when the appointed hour arrived. Prior to that, however, it was great to have Cata reach out to us after our ship arrived, with directions, a variety of possible activities for our time in Valparaiso, and a cautionary word about our intention to walk from the port.
