Our Villa Hesha is part of the historical architecture of Český Krumlov. It was built in the 30s, designed by architect Johann Melzner. He brought to Krumlov a bit of the architecture of northern Bohemia, which was strongly connected with German influence. His style was in demand, even Krumlov was mostly German before the war. The architecture of his Krumlov houses is traditionalist, drawing on folk architecture and can be described as Heimatstil, characterised by a steep gabled roof, wooden panelling and shutters or the use of a stone plinth. Compared to most of the 1930s villa buildings in the area, it stands out for its specific "Swiss" style - rather than a modern villa, it resembles a mountain chalet thanks to the wooden gable paneling, stone plinth and distinctive green shutters. The villa has a peaceful garden with breathtaking views of the entire historic centre. The house was bought in the sixties by my grandfather, who lived here with his family and also painted here. His paintings decorate the rooms of the villa. There are two separate apartment units in the house with a common entrance.

Our family has been running the accommodation for a relatively short period of time, since April 2023. We are happy that although no one lives in the house permanently at the moment, it is still lively. Český Krumlov is a unique place and worth a visit. I will try to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

The house is located in a quiet residential area in the immediate vicinity (10 minutes walk) of the historic city center. In the surrounding area, in addition to the classic tourist attractions such as the castle and the city center, there are countless opportunities for recreation. There is the Cross Mountain ideal for a short walk with a beautiful view of Krumlov, you can visit Lipno and the Lipno Dam, you can go cycling around the area, you can go to the centre for entertainment and culture, in the summer months Krumlov shines with many festivals, exhibitions, concerts and more. You can visit the surrounding towns, villages and towns, for example Vyšší Brod and its monastery, Rožmberk nad Vltavou and the beautiful Rožmberk Castle and the newly reconstructed Jakobínk castle tower and much more. In winter, you can go cross-country skiing and ski slopes in Bohemia (Lipno Ski Resort) and abroad (Hochficht Ski Resort or Sternstein Ski Resort).
