Villa with private pool - Hirondelles Villa Hirondelles is a private villa with heated pool in the Charente Maritime region of sw France. The private villa sleeps 8 in four bedrooms, ideal for 2 families to share or one extended family. There is a double room and a twin room plus a bathroom located on each side of the house with the spacious kitchen and sitting room in the centre. The private villa is set in the heart of the French countryside and is surrounded by open fields as far as you can see. Perfect for a relaxing family holiday in sw France. With a huge garden and large sun terrace surrounding the enclosed heated swimming pool, it is perfect for the whole family. There is an extensive grassed lawn surrounding the whole villa with trees on two sides creating areas of shade and plenty of space to play ball games. There is plenty of space for parking cars. The villa looks out at open fields planted with crops such as sunflowers and wheat. The location is ideal for walks and cycling. There are activities held locally such as craft activities for children, wine tastings and vineyard walks ( all within 2km) but there is no pressure to join in. There is a swimming lake with sandy beach just 30 mins drive away and the coast with it's hundreds of km of beaches is an easy 1hrs drive. The local town of St Jean d'Angely has a twice weekly market, lots of bars and restaurants and all the other facilities required such as supermarkets, pharmacies and hospital. The famous towns of Saintes, with it's Roman ampitheatre and Coganc with it's tours are just 30mins away.

Chris and Wendy are experienced hosts with a number of properties in the area. We have lived and worked in France for over 28 years. We have numerous properties in the area, are very experienced and are an established business so you can be sure to receive friendly and professional attention. You will be given our phone details so you can message us at any time if there is anything you need, a cup of sugar, book a doctors appointment or a restaurant table, unblock a sink or just a recommendation for a beach or day out - whatever you need, we are happy to help. We live nearby. Chris visits the house daily in the morning to maintain the pool , he is very discrete and will not disturb you but if you need something he is happy to help. We offer paid activities such as pottery and fabric painting for children held just 2km away. We also offer guided vineyard walks and discovery events and can also organise a scuba diving session in your own pool. Guests at Villa Hirondelle are welcome to join in any of these activities but are not pressured into doing so at all. GOOD TO KNOW before booking: We are in a beautiful and very rural location - so everything is a drive. The boulangerie is 4km, the supermarket and restaurants are 12km. There are no parasols around the pool area as shade can be found around the property at different times of day. No music to be heard outside that will disturb the locals ( sound travels easily in the peace of the countryside) Smoking only allowed outside. No pets. There is no tv antenna, only free internet channels and pay channels and streaming services such as netflix, please bring your own access codes. Please note there may be occasional farming activity such as a tractor tending the fields.

The house is on the edge of a quiet rural village. Guests are expected to respect the peace and quiet of the location. A car is essential. There are many lovely walks immediately around the villa but in order to make the most of this beautiful region, a car is required as there is no public transport. We really are in the countryside. St Jean d'Angély is our local town with restaurants, bars, cafés, market and supermarkets, it is a 15 min drive (12km) . Saintes with its Roman history, Cognac with its distillery tours, are approximately a 30 minute drive and La Rochelle and the coast are a one hour drive away. Bordeaux is 1hr30. Please only book our property if you want to be in the heart of the countryside. If you want to be on the coast - book on the coast! There are no bars or restaurants within walking distance, everything is a drive including the boulangerie (4km) That is one of the reasons many families return year after year as they love the rural life here.
