## The neighborhood Chancery Lane lies amid inns of court and has a leathery atmosphere. Get into the highbrow spirit with a free lecture at Gresham College or make a one-off (free) reference visit to the Maughan Library at King's College with its glorious circular reading room. For refreshment afterwards, Ye Olde Mitre is tucked away down an alley and is highly atmospheric. It contains a chunk of cherry tree that marked an ancient rights boundary. Equally eccentric is the Seven Stars (53 Carey Street) with its cabinet of curiosities and white-ruffed cat. For another unusual experience, descend into the London Silver Vaults, where your eyes have to readjust to the monochrome profusion of silverware being bought and sold. ## Getting around Chancery Lane tube station is just an 8 minute walk away from the flat, with great connections around London on the Central Line. City Thameslink rail station is also a short walk away, with trains to and from Gatwick, Luton and Brighton. There are also plenty of buses stopping nearby which can take you all around London, as well as Santander bicycles for hire.
