The Hayloft at Newbarn Farm is a delightful, reverse-living holiday cottage making the most of the double-height ceiling in the living space on the first floor, which features the original A-frame’s 300-year-old timbers. Head up an external flight of wooden steps to the front door, which opens into a light and spacious open-plan living-dining area and a fully equipped kitchen with a lovely view through the original hayloft door across the farm to the surrounding countryside. An interior staircase leads down to the ground floor where there are two comfortable bedrooms (one a king-size double and the other a twin) and a family bathroom. The Hayloft at New Farm Barn is in a rural setting between Charlbury (3.5 miles) and Woodstock (5 miles). Charlbury is a small but lively and vibrant market town that has escaped the hordes of Cotswold tourists, making it a justifiable member of the ‘Undiscovered Cotswold Club’, yet it is only an hour from London by train and just 15 minutes’ drive from Soho Farmhouse. The town is full of historic 17th- and 18th-century buildings, has great pubs, independent shops, a local history museum, and is in a beautiful setting on the meandering River Evenlode. Woodstock too is a historic and lively town with a great choice of shops, pubs, restaurants and, of course, Blenheim Palace and Churchill’s grave at Bladon on its doorstep.
