Simon was born in the Cotswolds far too many years ago and came back to live in this idyllic area after stints in the USA, South America, Southern Africa and the Caribbean. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Cotswolds and is keen for guests to find and use all the best that the local area has to offer.

Coln St. Aldwyns is an idyllic village full of old world charm 8 miles East of Cirencester and perfectly placed as a base from which to explore the whole of the Cotswolds. Bibury, Barnsley and the Ampneys are all on the doorstep and Chedworth Roman Villa, the Cotswold Wildlife Park, the National Trust's Lodge Park at Sherborne and the Cotswold Water Park are all just round the corner. Adam Henson's brilliant farm park, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Burford all provide plenty of local material for enjoyable explorations. A footpath can take walkers right from the cottage over and along the River Coln to Bibury and out in to the wider Cotswold countryside. The village's recently refurbished and reopened gastro-pub, The New Inn, makes for a great evening off from self-catering duties, while the delightful Coln Community Store is literally just "round the corner" prevents the need for a mad dash to the supermarkets in Cirencester (while also providing a great teashop for the post-walk recovery!) Holly Cottage is just 4miles from Cripps & Co's Stone Barn and Cripps Barn and 8 miles from the Old Gore wedding venues and is often chosen as an ideal location by brides and wedding parties as an ideal location to get married from.
