Haughton Castle is set in scenic parkland along the North Tyne river. It is just a mile from the village of Humshaugh, where you will find The Crown Inn, where you can enjoy a drink and meal from their varied menu. The historic market town of Hexham, with its 12th century abbey, is just under six miles away. The Castle is on the edge of the rugged and beautiful Northumberland National Park and just a five minute drive from historic Hadrian's Wall, plus England’s largest forest Kielder Forest is a few miles upstream, perfect for dark skies and outdoor activities at the observatory and visitor centres. The whole of Northumberland is a dramatic county, with its ancient forts and castles, unspoilt beaches, hills and moorland - so you’ll never run out of places to explore around here.
