Tucked into the NE corner of Antigua, this bright, airy apartment sits atop four studio apartments and has its own private balcony. The view of Antigua's 3 volcanoes from the shared terrace is simply stunning. It's a pleasant 20 minute walk to Parque Central, and paid parking is an 8 minute walk away (or a 2 minute tuk tuk ride). The dining table seats 4 but there’s room to entertain more. The fridge is stocked with breakfast basics and some beverages so you don't have to go to the store immediately. There are plenty of oils, spices, and more for cooking so check the cupboards before you go grocery shopping (see my extensive guidebook for details.) Dogs are allowed (sorry, no cats, no exceptions). Windows are screened. There is a large standing fan and a small personal fan that can be moved if you need them. Digital nomads, no need to worry about wifi! There are two networks you can join (one is 30 Mbps and the other is 100 Mbps) each from different providers, so if one goes out the likelihood that the other is also down is small. Each router is connected to a one hour UPS in case of a power outage.

I moved here 6 years ago to learn Spanish and volunteer more often at the orphanage my partners and I helped build. Guess what? My Spanish still sucks! Ha ha. Your apartment in the clouds has the best views of the three volcanoes you can find anywhere in Antigua because it's at the edge of the valley going up a small hill. It is located in a quiet, family-oriented neighborhood tucked into the corner of the Candelaria neighborhood in Antigua. In the afternoon you may hear kids playing and neighbors conversing, but after 9:00pm it's usually silencio! (That said, it's Guatemala, so there is always the chance of a party and/or firecrackers, especially on holidays.) It's a 20 minute hike to Cerro de la cruz (the hill of the cross) from our front door. Do that first thing when you arrive to get a visual orientation of the town from above. It's also about 20 minutes walking to Parque Central, or you can usually grab a tuk tuk for Q20 at the basketball cour nearby.
