The two apartments are located on a rocky promontory overlooking the largest watchtower on the Amalfi Coast, traditionally known as the Norman Tower. The apartments can be reached from the parking area along the coastal road, climbing a flight of approximately 50 lava stone steps from Vesuvius. Going up, on the left the view of the Coast gradually opens up in one of the most panoramic points, which allows you to see the stretch from Maiori to Conca dei Marini. Arriving at the entrance gate, and having passed the door, you enter a small vestibule. On the first floor is the first apartment. On the left the kitchen, equipped with dishwasher, electric stove, refrigerator, small freezer and washing machine. The large living room opens to the right, with a dining table for 4 people and a sofa that becomes a bed if necessary. The living room, with the characteristic wall of tiny stones, has two windows and a balcony, with a panoramic view of the Amalfi Coast. The next room is the bedroom, with a large double bed and bathroom. Maiori was built in the 9th century by the Salerno prince Sicardo with the name of «Rheginna Major» to distinguish itself from the neighboring city of Minori, called «Rheginna Minor». Both retained this name until the beginning of the Swabian naming era, and subsequently lost the word "Rheginna", which derived from the name of two rivers, one larger and one smaller, which also subsequently continued to be called Regina and Reginella , while over the centuries the two cities took the names of Maiuri and Minuri. Possession of Amalfi and sharer in its history, Maiori resisted for some time the surrender of Amalfi to the Normans. It was sacked in 1268 by the Pisans, rivals of the Amalfi Republic. It had a thriving merchant navy and was able to build large ships on its long and wide beach. Maiori, decimated by the plague of 1656 which reduced the population to 700 people, in 1852 had 4891 inhabitants. On 26 October 1954 the central area of the town suffered the flood and the roof of the Reginna Maior exploded causing the collapse of numerous adjacent houses.
