The historic center of Palermo is divided into four large districts or "mandamenti" that meet at the intersection of the Quattro Canti (or Piazza Vigliena). Aria Rooms, is located in the Mandamento "Tribunali", so called for the presence of the ancient court of the Inquisition, historic building commonly known as Palazzo Chiaramonte-Steri. But the ancient name of the district, and the one with which it is commonly identified today by Palermo, is "Kalsa". Kalsa derives from the Arabic “al Khalisa”, which means pure or elect: it is in fact a neighborhood born in the Arab period (IX century) inside which it is possible to find very important museums like Palazzo Abatellis (where the famous "Annunziata" of Antonello da Messina), the Modern Art Gallery in S. Anna square, Palazzo Sant'Elia and its exhibitions, Palazzo Mirto as an example of sicilian aristocratic residence. Turned the corner of via Roma in which Aria Rooms is located, 20 meters away, there is the Real Theater of Santa Cecilia with a program full of Jazz concerts; a 10-minute walk, in the heart of the Magione park the Garibaldi Theater from which the direction of the activities of Manifesta Biennale of contemporary art.
