The municipality of Ovaro, in the channel of Gorto, along the river Degano, belongs to the elevations of the Carnic Alps on the road that leads to the passes of Croce Carnico and Comelico. It is part of the tourist complex Zoncolan. From here you can reach the historical site of Carnia, visit various museums of the area and discover the local gastronomy with handmade salami, cheese and smoked ricotta. On foot, by bike or ski you can discover the territory according to your own sporting preparation: lakes, alpine villages made of stone and wood, ancient churches and caves await you, in addition to the "malghe" (typical buildings) where you can taste products of own production. In winter, for skiers and mountain lovers, the ski lifts on Monte Zoncolan are about 10 km away, ideal for cross-country skiing and downhill skiing (27 km). It is 26 km to the thermal baths in Arta Terme, whose sulfurous waters have been famous since Roman times.
