Inspired by the Garland of Roses won by all Derby winners at neighboring Churchill Downs: rose-filled grounds, interior well appointed w/ contemporary art & historic artifacts of equine & regional heritage. Four bedrooms with crisp white bedding, plush mattress, extra pillows, sheets, comforter, custom over-dyed antique quilts, all allergen free materials. Along with towels, fresh laundered robes and natural, non-toxic, cleaners used whenever possible. Each bedroom named after a specific rose, help identify the room like the unique naming of thoroughbreds, matching our dual motif. Large eat in kitchen seats 6-14. Rear deck with new electric grill, table sits 6, + 4 bar stools, shaded by an old oak tree. Great for relaxing or playing horseshoes in back. Pet and kid friendly with prior approval. Off street parking in driveway (4 cars) also plenty of street parking. 3 car garage can be made available.

Designer, Traveler, and Louisville native, I take Southern hospitality very seriously. Avid gardner, cook, yogi, naturalist, I embraced temporary retirement from the museum world in order to develop a few havens in the hometown I love. Garland House is my newest creation - where the focus is always making guests feel welcome. As a architectural designer, I have taken great care in sustainably renovating, utilizing locally sourced, reused or repurposed materials and furnishings . My goal has been to create a well considered and ample and comfortable space to be enjoyed by foodies and sports fans alike. And while many east enders may consider South Louisville a little rough around the edges, I chose to invest in the positive emerging energy of the area, sharing a strong pride of place that has always been an important part of the character of the neighborhood. Conveniently located blocks from the race track, UofL, expo center, in a diverse working class neighborhood, lots of regular pedestrian foot traffic and sports focused energy, unlike anywhere else in town. Within a few blocks local grocery, gas station and long-standing dive bar, an easy walk. Louisville landmark Wagner's is not to be missed, a short walk + great prelude to a visit to the Kentucky Derby Museum just a few blocks from your front door. Larger chain amenities, bank, and quick food options are a short 2 minute drive to near-by Central Station shopping center. Excellent thrift shop, dollar store, pharmacy and Ace Hardware all a quick 3 minute drive, for any last minute necessities. Gentrifying Beechmont w/ a fantastic family owned popscicle shop and local Sunergos coffee is just a ride up Fredrick Law Olmstead designed esplanade Southern Parkway. Iroquois Park and Amphitheater + Central Park, both abt a 10 minute drive. Newly renovated Speed Art Museum is a quick drive up 4th Street.
