Plum Crooked Poet’s Cottage is a newly restored 1930s Rustic Nouveau home nestled between a mountain and rushing creek right at the edge of town. Like an old forgotten poem, Plum’s inspirational charm is a step back in time and boasts a goosedown pillowtop king bed, (the finest bed for let in town), original clawfoot tub and a brand new, fully stocked kitchen complete with fine china! Our sweet sunny dining nook connects to the kitchen and is a perfect spot for morning coffee and your home-cooked meals. Our cozy living room features two comfy loveseats, a desk/chair workspace with excellent 800+ mbps wifi, tv and an infrared fireplace for those wintry snowy days! We have a fine selection of poetry books and each room has a framed poem or two as well. Lounge in the rockers on the wrap around porch overlooking the creek as the small town pace of historic Marshall passes by. Outdoor sofa and covered sitting area on the back deck is a guest favorite! We always provide an artisan bread or pastries, jam and butter for your arrival. Easy walk to the wee town of Marshall makes Plum a convenient in-town mountain respite! She is one of a kind!

I’m a local artist living on artist’s time and about 5 minutes away. I will be as available as you need or as scarce as you like if you just want privacy. A keypad doorlock gives you seamless self check-in. I’m also a clean freak so our space is always cleaned and sanitized to the highest standards! I’ve also written a guest handbook to explain the quirks and workings of the house if you are trying to locate anything or figure out how things work. It also gives you local suggestions for restaurants, shops, adventures and general necessities to make your stay with us as seamless and rewarding as possible.

Plum Crooked is located on Main St in charming Marshall, NC. A sweet historical mountain town directly on the French Broad River, it is a bit of a throwback with small local eateries, shops, art studios - no chain restaurants or stores in sight. A favorite of biking enthusiasts, hikers and river rafters, Marshall is conveniently located 20 min from bustling Asheville and 20 minutes to historic Hot Springs. It is a quirky, artsy town with friendly and colorful locals. The old high school located on Blanahasset island on the French Broad River in town has been converted into a creative community of art studios and boasts a wonderful little park. Just a stroll over the bridge in town and you are there! Marshall is the recent film setting for the production of the upcoming Amazon series The Peripheral. It was quite an experience as the whole town was transformed and we look forward to the release date this year. One guest recently described Marshall as a step back in time to an old Hollywood set! The historical courthouse is one of the finest in the South and was designed and built by a notable architect in 1904. Very dramatic setting right across from the river!
