Friendly hospitality and every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible, especially the rusks and coffee from a local roastery. Great location close to beach and restaurants. It was just amazing having our morning coffee in bed while...

Gorgeous apartment about 5 minutes walk from the beach. Its up on the scarbourgh hill, so it has lovely views. The beach is beautiful, we saw both otters and dolphins. The room is spacious and comfy, with a small kitchen with everything you need...

Our unusual home was built in 2000. It is based on an octagon shape. It is mostly timber frame with a brick base cladded in our local Table Mountain Sand Stone. The unusual shape gives the home its character and provides for interesting spaces. The setting is on the mountain slope in the relatively wind free North Eastern part of Scarborough. We are 50metres above the Atlantic Ocean. This provides for an amazing sea view. We also hear the waves breaking on the beach below us. There is a 5minute walk to the beach. The beach below us is popularly called Mussel Beach. It is pristine and mostly not well used by the general public. Mussels can be harvested off the rocks at low tide. Mussel Beach and the Oyster Catcher are two units at ground level with separate entrances. These are two self-contained units each with a ranch style covered deck for out door dining or just sitting and watching the slow pace of the day merging into the star filled night. Moon sets are special. There are pull down external blinds to protect one from the setting sun in the middle of summer Mussel Beach Elite is a unit in our home on the complete upper level. The views are spectacular. Access is through our main door from the parking up a flight of stairs into the communal living area with a fire place. Off to the side of this area is a partially contained deck with a wooden table for dining in the open. This is the guests private area to relax and enjoy meals a d a drink. A Weber braai is provided to prepare some meals over the coals. Then up another set of stairs is the bedrooms, bathroom and kitchenette. All totally private. The main bedroom has the kitchenette in one corner and two comfortable pedestal stools to have a stunning view of the sea and beach.
Dee and myself are nearly 70 but are still filled with the joy of life. Dee will be at home most of the time and easily contactable. She loves nothing more than working in her garden or cooking and looking after Orbit and me. Her two little Yorkshire Terriers are her children. They are the most spoilt pets I know. I am still an active Land Surveyor and go to work daily. My hobbies are tennis and playing my acoustic guitar. Orbit is our baby. He is 18 and still at school. His parents are from Zimbabwe and have allowed us to act as Obers guardians. This we have done since he was 4years old.
Scarborough is such a unique place. We have lived here for 23years and never tire of it. Even though we travel to nearby shopping centres and work, when we come over the surrounding hills and descend to the ocean, its like a shift in dimension as we leave all our cares behind. The village was developed form about 1940. It has about 400 permanent residents and is completely surrounded by Table Mountain National Park. In our home we sleep with our doors open and feel completely safe. It has become extremely popular in the last few years. The walks around are impressive. A brisk walk along the Main Road to Misty Cliffs, about 2 kms down the road, will take one about an hour. On the one side is the pounding sea on the rocks and on the other the cliff face of the Table Mountain sand stone mountain called Hoek se Krans. This walk or run will lift one spirit and is well frequented by the residents. There is our beautiful beaches to walk on and rock pools to explore or the mountain hikes above our back yard. The birds and animal life is astounding. The endangered Red Bill Oyster Catchers breed on our beaches. The sun birds and bee eaters abound. There are whales in the bay from September. We have heard them calling and waving from ore deck. Baboons sometimes visit. Porcupines at night. Cape Clawless Sea Otters dance on the rocks sometimes. Last Night I saw my first "Rooikat" or Caracal Cat. There are a few local shops for some supplies and restaurants for meals The commercial development of Scarborough has been wisely restricted. Scarborough is Ideally situated for the best of both worlds. Pristine nature and close enough to larger shopping centres, restaurants and entertainment. Shopping Centres and restuarants15mins drive. Simonstown and penguin colony 15minis drive. Cape Point Nature Reserve gate 15mins drive. Table Mountain and Cape Town and Victoria Alfred Waterfront 45mins drive, Stellenbosch and Somerset West Winelands 60mins drive.
