Onrus Cottage offers self-catering accommodation in a spacious and modern free-standing house in the quiet seaside village of Onrusriver / Vermont, just 15 minutes from Hermanus and 1.5 hours from Cape Town. This is a special part of the world with so much to see and do and a wealth of local attractions – from whale watching, kayaking, wine tasting, hiking, mountain biking, shopping and much more. The beach is only a few minutes away and a four minute walk will take you to two fabulous local tidal pools, or to beautiful cliffside walks at the seaside. We are just a few kilometres from the Hemel en Aarde Valley with its boutique wineries and restaurants. Enjoy a large private garden, undercover barbecue and dining area and a rooftop deck with panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding mountains. This 3-bedroom house has a fully-equipped kitchen and scullery with a dishwasher. The comfortable lounge has a Netflix-enabled smart TV, and connects to the enclosed dining and barbeque area, with plenty of seating. The barbeque area opens out into the garden, which has a wonderful outdoor shower with hot and cold water and a fire pit with seating. There is an unlimited supply of free firewood. The spacious master bedroom features king size bed, a ceiling fan and modern en-suite bathroom with a shower and bath. The two other bedrooms have queen size beds and plenty of cupboard space, and there is a second bathroom with a shower. You will also have use of a private rooftop deck with panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding mountains. The uncapped 200Mbps fibre connection with Wi-Fi is available to guests free of charge. The house has a high wall and a burglar alarm, making it secure. We also provide bedding and bath towels.

I work in the tourism industry with hotels and accommodation and truly understand what good hospitality is all about. I am in appreciator of good wine, a keen cyclist and love spending time in the ocean. Onrusrivier is one of my favourite places and was my first choice for a second home. I have lived abroad for over 15 years and it is so great to be home.

Onrusrivier is an ideal holiday spot and the beaches and tidal pools are refreshing and safe. Nearby Onrus lagoon is wonderful for younger children. The beach has showers and a fabulous restaurant making this a attractive place for familys. The beach is long and is perfect for picnics, suntanning and playing games. It is also a favourite surfing and body-boarding spot. There are also many child-friendly tidal pools on this beautiful stretch of coastline. The famous cliff path is a long and a relaxing walk or run all the way to nearby Vermont Nature Reserve which boasts one of the most undisturbed beaches in the area. A four minute walk will take you to Davies Pool and Jan Rabies pool – two fabulous local tidal pools, as well as beautiful cliffside walks at the seaside and many other attractions on our doorstep. Between September and January, the whales make their way past this coastline and whale watching is very popular. The entire area is surrounded by impressive mountains as well as spectacular fynbos that is endemic to this region which means that the views are always breathtaking. If you have a passion for the outdoors, there are a number of walking, hiking, horse riding and cycling trails within close proximity to Onrus Cottage.
