I really enjoyed my visit to Takeno, a quiet, traditional fishing village. The guest house was simple but really lovely, and spotlessly clean, and Keisuke made sure I had everything I needed. The sashimi set for dinner was the best I have had in Japan - fish fresh straight off the dock. It was also really relaxing to hang out downstairs in his bookshop bar. All round a great experience.
A simple guest house and cafe with a super friendly host Mayumi who shines with her chiffon cakes. She helped us to make reservation for a very local dinner place.
Very warm welcome in this nearly 100 y/o original Japanese style guest house. There were lot's of places/ nooks to relax and read a book. From the chairs on the balcony to the terrace with breathtaking view. Best of all was the food, if you go here you must (MUST) have the dinner as well. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
This was the perfect start to our Kumano Kodo hike, Hiroki was such a wonderful host and the guest house is exactly what we needed. The meals are excellent (authentic and delicious) and the luggage transfer service worked perfectly. Hiroki even gave us a lift from the bus when we arrived and took us to the beginning of the trail the next day. Overall a great place and we would definitely go back.
This guest house is a gem. If you are curious about koysan, I can't recommend this place enough. The owner is very helpful and gives an outline of the things to do while you're here. The location is close to one of the main temples, and close enough to a bus stop to explore the rest of town. Ryochi (the owner) can also facilitate breakfast and dinner if you let him know in advance.
Loved the rustic vibe of the place, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Check in was smooth, I with I had booked the dinner package!
This was one of our favorite stays! The balcony overlooking the bay had a nice view of the water, very quiet and peaceful little town surrounded by mountains and water. The guest house was beautiful and thoughtfully designed and the futons were comfortable to sleep on. We were right across the street from the water and we had a lovely walk on the beach. The host was very friendly and welcoming, he gave us some clementines he had grown and he also gave us a great recommendation for dinner.
We loved the little guest house Kamunabi in Nara! Stayed 3 days and enjoyed each of them, starting with the lovely madr breakfast. We booked the "Inner Room" and enjoyed the privacy. Highly recommend to stay here again! The guest house is near Nara Park (10min walk).
This is a charming and relaxed guest house not far from the beach. Beautifully renovated and looked after. Our host Mizu spoke perfect English and helped with everything we needed: bicycles, dinner reservations and even booking a massage! Nice relaxed atmosphere in a family setting.
We liked how spacious the room was and the kind innkeeper that guided us to our room and showed us the ropes, she was the sweetest. The bath was nice too, but definitely not big enough for two people so it was good only one of us went. The location is great and in the Gion District and also a 5 minute walk from the station!
