Situated in Nakanojo, 49 km from Naeba Ski Resort, Shima-Onsen Toshimaya features accommodation with a hot spring bath, a hot tub and a public bath. We booked the room with a private onsen for our honeymoon. We arrived with our rental car and were greeted by the valet whom parked our car. We were then seated to a separate table where a lady (who I assumed is the manager) talked a bit of English and explained the rules (onsens) and times (breakfast and dinner). She then walked us through our room (no elevators btw). The room was a beautiful traditional Japanese Ryokan. It is right next to the flowing river. I wouldn't recommend opening the window though due to the insects. The bathroom is very nice and the shower is outdoors next to the private onsen. The beds on the tatami will be set up for you while you are having dinner. The dinners and breakfasts were delicious and yes very exotic (horse/deer sashimi, boar soup and tiny deep fried crabs). The flavours and portions were abundant. The lovely and friendly lady that served us for dinner explained everything very well and she was a happy personality. Overall, I loved the whole traditional experience and felt very relaxed throughout the stay. Definitely recommend if you are coming here to unwind and eat delicious food.

A recently renovated villa set in Numata, 一棟貸し別荘 mitt house inn features a garden. This property offers access to a balcony, table tennis, free private parking and free WiFi. Everything. The house is spacious and beautiful. Every need was addressed, they even left us a fresh apple juice in the fridge and a welcome note. Rooms were huge and the beds were really comfortable. The kids enjoyed playing with the toys 🧸 and to jump on the small trampoline outside.

Asama Kuzanbo is located in Naganohara, 38 km from Honmachi Machiyakan and 44 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park. Overall Scenery: We greatly enjoyed the view of the villas. Mount Asama was majestic, and the sunrises and sunsets were stunningly beautiful. At night, the lighting was fantastic, especially the area lit up to resemble dandelions near the Sky Spa. Cuisine: The staff were very professional, so the meals were ready while we were chatting. The complimentary drinks were all delicious, and the quality of the meat and vegetables was top-notch. The ravioli and sausages for breakfast were also exquisite. Lounge: We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of the interior and the art displayed. The books and photographs provided great conversation starters, and the alcohol flowed, making for a delightful time. Sky Spa: The atmosphere of the open-air jacuzzi was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the view.

Pension Asanebou provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 39 km of Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort and 41 km of Naeba Ski Resort. Doggies! What more could you want? That said, everything else was perfect too. The owners were friendly and their service impeccable, both dinner and breakfast felt homely and tasted delicious, and the onsen was wonderful (although I enjoyed the indoor one more because the outdoor one was too hot!) Just all around great stay. Would love to visit again during a different season for the garden or for snow.

Everything was above expectations! The room, the onsens, the food and service were excellent. Thank you for your hospitality. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Everything, especially the isolation . This place is perfect for people like our family, who feel overwhelmed with Tokyo busyness after a few days. It was so nice and relaxing, the onsen was one of the best experiences of my life.
