Guests can enjoy the rooftop garden with views of Circular Quay and the city skyline at The Russell Hotel. Located in the heart of Sydney’s historic The Rocks and just 2 minutes' walk to Sydney... My self and my family had a enjoyable stay at this very nice hotel. Staff was very friendly.
A must visit. First have a photo session at Harbour then, at opera house and a beer / food at some of the joints on the water front before watching a lovely play in Opera house. A great evening to spend.
Be sure to pick up you free Opera House picture. They take the picture at the start of the tour. Didn't mention anything about them being free. Happened to walk by y guide at the conclusion as she was letting people know to go pick them up. Maybe I got lucky with it being free. Others in my group picked it up as well, but many left before she mentioned the picture. Given the prices of the pictures, it more than paid for the tour itself. And the picture came in a great book with additional facts and history on the Opera House.
As most people who go to Sydney know, the Opera House is a must-see. We were fortunate to be able to go to a performance, which made that one of the highlights of our trip. The only thing about the Opera House I don't like is that the architect got stiffed and received neither his full fee nor any thanks from Sydney.
Go every time I go to Sydney, if nothing is on I go anyway. I particularly like the building, its very functional inside and I like what they have done with concrete and left it alone and its great. With a roof like the Sydney Opera House you would not want to stuff up the interior, the almost prisonlike interior suits it.
Such a buzz always a bustling crowd, great atmosphere, huge variety of cafes, restaurants, surrounded by beautiful Sydney Harbour. Check out ‘what’s on’ at the Opera House, entertainment, displays, wining and dining!
We attended the performance of Madame Butterfly. The performance, decor, costumes and choreography, and the orchestra were marvelous! But the acoustics were shockingly bad, and the public toilet facilites were insufficient.
Great location that is walking accessible to all areas of the central business district. We walked to the Maritime Museum and to the beautiful Botanical Gardens and the Sydney Opera House from the hotel. Pleasant helpful staff. Breakfast staff is pleasant, fastidious, and always keeps the buffet well stocked. They will make you an excellent cup of coffee if you ask for it. Take advantage of the $18 Sydney Bus Tour that meets in Hyde Park (info on map of Sydney at hotel desk). This is an excellent way to get acquainted with Sydney.
First, the bed was AMAZING. It was honestly hard to get up because I wanted to stay in the bed all day. The bathroom was beautiful, and I'm sad I didn't get a chance to try out the big bathtub. I was in town for the weekend to see an opera and the location was perfect to easily get to and from the Sydney Opera House. Also, the staff were very friendly and accommodating from the very first moment I walked through the doors.

Loved the location, being 5 minute walk to the historical Rocks area of Sydney. Staff were friendly, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I love the bright colours in the lounge/reception/dining common area. It's great that you can open the bedroom window to get fresh air. The view of The Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay from the Hostel roof top is magical! See my photo :)
The staff as always made the hotel- kind ; helpful and knew what they were talking about when they made any recommendations ! Can’t thank the Concierge enough over a hectic time- New Years Eve. Also felt very safe with extra security and door checks. Had a room overlooking the Sydney Opera House & watched the fireworks from our room! The food for Breakfast was very good. Enjoyed the buffet What a memory
The hotel was centrally situated, within walking distance to Darling Harbour, Sydney Opera House, Chinatown. It is close to trains that make places outside of the city accessible. If you do not want to walk, the main attractions in Sydney is a short train ride away.
Beds were very comfortable, rooms have all amenities including washer and dryer! Great views, easy walk to the Quay/ wharf for food and the Sydney Opera House
Great location, within walking distance of the botanical gardens, Sydney Opera House and Central Quay for transportation. Room was nice. Bed was comfortable.
The bed was extremely comfortable. And you could see the sydney opera house from your window. Room was a good size.
