You will always find a CROWD in front of these gardens....and this is because they are the oldest amusement gardens in the world!!! Not because of the rides, or the grounds as nowadays you do find bigger and more challenging amusement parks. But this one IS in the middle of the city, which is ad advantage, you don t have to go too far or take trains, or buses.... If you have kids, you better take the Family ticket pack, because otherwise you will feel guilty you didnt take them to this! I came here as an adult, so I guess I left the rides out, and some of them are quite challenging even for the brave! Independently of this, there are nice restaurants of all types of cuisine on the Tivoli gardens grounds. From fastfood to Michelin star quality, you just have to be in Tivoli Gardens! I advice to go in the afternoon as you can catch the theatres presentations and the Light and music show which we saw (and probably changes with seasons) whch was spectacular! It gives a magic touch to the otherwise seemingly "kitchy decor" but amusement parks do play with what reality is. And it would not be an amusement park if it was perfectly decorated with subdued colors, would it? Tivoli Gardens is an institution, and I liked to visit it and know more about it.
Surprisingly good. You can see where Disney got his inspiration from. I preferred Tivoli as it has an authenticity and was so beautifully set out. I was not keen to be there for Halloween as I am not keen on the promoting of ghouls and witchcraft. But it was not like that. It was a light atmosphere and the displays of pumpkins and decorations were beautiful. There must be 30 restaurants in the park to choose from. That is the hard part! Well worth visiting.
If you are into rides in amusement parks, do not miss this. Beautiful and "radical" attractions. If you or your children (taller than 1,20/1,40m) are into it, it's strongly recommended to buy the "unlimited rides" ticket. Otherwise you will "go broke" by buying single rides, or will not make the most of your visit.
Many restaurants and good ice cream places. We ate by the lake, very good food, perfect weather in August . We did not ride anything, but later a native told us about the Hans Christian Anderson ride, and we were sorry we didn't see it. Especially beautiful lights at night.
Really nice park in an atmospheric ancient style. The 80m high carousel was also really nice. The waiting times could have been a little bit shorter though, confirms the mith that the danish people are doing everything „slow and comfortable“ :D.
If you're planning on touring a lot of tourist spots, the Copenhagen Card is a great deal! Entrance to Tivoli and other sites inclusive no need to line up to buy tickets, transportation also included!
Vesterbro, Copenhagen
Great value for money! My family stayed in Urban House Copenhagen by MEININGER and with the cost so low compared to other hotels in the area it's hard not to complain, so what are the good points: - Friendly staff - Great location (near the train station and Tivoli Gardens) - Great bar and restaurant area - although they mainly do burgers - Nice lounge area (Cinema room) - Pool table - Self service kitchen was a huge bonus!!!!! As we were to able to buy and cook our own food - 7/11 supermarket less than a minute away
Great location, convenient to Copenhagen Central Station and Tivoli Gardens. Room was large and the beds were very firm (which is what we prefer). The decor of the hotel was nice...it gave the hotel a historic sort of feeling to it. Eating options in the area were numerous, given the proximity to Tivoli Gardens.
Its location is the hotel's asset. I came here for my wedding and it's just 5 minutes or so to get to the city hall, Tivoli Gardens, and various shops and restaurants. That the hotel lobby smells amazing and the staff being very friendly are a bonus.
Very close to the central station. Walking distance to the Tivoli Gardens and amusement park. A lot of bars and restaurants very close. The actual hotel was clean but dated. If you have a street facing room, it can get a bit noisy.
Location wasn't too bad as far as distance to the center of city (e.g. Tivoli Gardens, etc.) Forum subway stop is not that close to hotel. Price per night is pretty reasonable for Copenhagen. Quiet area at night.
Loved the Andersen Hotel. The staff was incredible. Friendly and very helpful. The location was fantastic. A few blocks from Tivoli Gardens and two blocks from Central Station. I would recommend this wonderful Hotel again.
Hotel modern, breakfast very good, easily reach to Train Station, Tivoli Gardens, Ripleys etc. Staff very nice and helpful, food in bar/restaurant very nice, luggage room brilliant asI had a night time flight.
Tivoli is well worth visiting but gets crowded later in the day.
Christmas at Tivoli is amazing, it makes you feel like a kid again. The decorations and carnival atmosphere is astounding with so much to do and eat! Definitely worth a trip during the Xmas holiday season.
Family visit to Tivoli on Saturday evening - little granddaughter enjoyed (suitable) rides, and big balloon.
We visited at end of October and there were no queues for the rides in Tivoli
Tivoli Gardens is a place to spend even a whole day. If you want to avoid the crowds, go in in the afternoon, at least 2-3 hours before the start of the concert. The public transport is very reliable (if you get directions from google maps, even the schedule is perfectly held), however it is best to walk around the city (the major attractions are relatively near to each other, you see everything by foot for 3 days by walking around 7-8 km daily).
