An interesting place, full of history. I liked the walk by the canal. Lots of cafes and young people having good time. I also visited The Science and Industry Museum and saw Stephenson`s steam locomotive the Rocket. I visited the John Rydlands Library. It was great.
What a great place to go .lots to do and number 1 canal street is great to eat at or just have a drink and night life go to Cruz 101 fri or Saturday is great and finally sackville park Alan sat there with his apple which killed him .
Loved how friendly people was , only downside was I visited the G.A.Y bar with my partner we have been to G.A.Y London many times but the G.A.Y Manchester door staff refused entry as it was a locals only bar which was a bit disappointing but the other bars on canal street where very friendly and welcoming
I don't like Canal street at all, unless your a local they do not like you being there. Also if your in couples they don't like this? Me and my partner went and got turned away everywhere like we were a threat so I've never been since.
Just be careful with what you drink. I asked for vodka twice. Clearly wasn't vodka tasted awful yet my boyfriends was fine. Also explained couldn't have certain drinks to allergies yet still through drinks and didn't listen. Awesome atmosphere, really fun,. Lots of dancing. Just a shame about the being unable to trust the bars. Otherwise it's the best place in Manchester. Reasonable prices, no or cheap entry fee. And everyone was really friendly.
Actually doesn't live up to expectations for me. The door staff are rude and irresponsible and this makes me concerned about safety, it doesnt seem to have evolved much over the last 10 years either to be honest.
The room was comfortable and clean with a nice shower and tea making facilities. The location for our needs was great! it has 3 beds so myself and friends had a brill night out. It was a tad noisy due to the club beneath going on late but we were in late anyway and weren't bothered. Overall very pleased with this place and would definitely stay again for a night out in the Canal Street and city centre area. and as a bonus it was a nice walk to the xmas markets the next morning.
Great price, great location just outside of Canal Street with easy access to Manchester Piccadilly and the city centre. The staff were very attentive and the breakfast was nice. We were able to leave our bags there after check out as well, which is a bonus.
Central location to railway, shops, trams, canal street. Funky interior and design. Great friendly fun staff on reception and cleaners and breakfast lady. Breakfast was buffet style but plentiful.
The Britannia is one of the closest and cheapest hotels to Canal Street. The hotel itself is clean and serviceable, if very tired. Staff are friendly and welcoming.
The location is really good. The hotel is close to Canal Street and it’s only a walking distance to most places of interest in Manchester.
