For Croagh Patrick take plenty of water and snacks, there is only pub at the beginning. Make sure you get wooden stick, which is a great helper for the hike. You buy it for 4 eur and if you return you get 2 eur back. Visitor centre sell sticks for 3 eur and you get back 1 eur.
We didn't realise we couldn't take the dogs to the mountain and we're disappointed the no dog sign should be more prominent and some reviews on line mentioned that they took their dogs so make it more clear and we would have kept the dogs on lead and under control of course
If planning to climb Croagh Patrick make sure you wear hiking boots. It can be slippery and boots will help keep you on your feet and your ankle from twisting!! Bring a raincoat and a warm top for when you get to the top. The weather can change quickly. Also bring a sandwich a drink. There are toilets at the top.
Mind the weather and get there early on a good weather day. The peak is shrouded in clouds often so the views can be diminished. Take a walking stick (available for 3 euros with a 1 euro at return) and wear good hiking shoes. The rocks can be unstable and slippery.
